I remember back in 2005 when VHS tapes were being phased out to be replaced by DVDs. Nowadays you can find DVDs in thrift stores and the bargain bins in Walmart. They're still around but Bluray and HD digital formats have taken center stage now.

Irwin Had some of the Tom Wilson tapes on his show. My favourite is the Boylan Brothers as Playback as Appletree Theatre, arguably up with the best psychedlic records. One of the tricks was to use jazz musicians.
