Favoriting Bryce: Playlist from March 6, 2020 Favoriting

I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

I love when I have this show on and TheWife comes home a little early and it's sounding like an air raid siren being torn apart with a pair of channel locks and alligator clips and whatnot...and she give me that "We're not gonna keep listening to this, are we?" look.
  12:24pm
P-90:

The cat occasionally gives me that look, but never during Bryce’s show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm

Our Local Dog, who goes by Bagpipe, heroically weathered that storm.

You ever play "Combat" on the original Atari 2600? And sometimes your tank would get stuck in a corner and freak out and you wouldn't be able to get it to move again? This sounds like that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm
Handy Haversack:

@Greg, yes. Yes.

Honestly, I'm not sure I ever got my tank out of that corner. That might be the explanation for why I'm listening to deconstructed bagpipes on WFMU while sitting next to a dog named Bagpipe. You're peeling back the curtain!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm
G:

@Woods of NH: Mine gets home and sometimes immediately says "Is that your Marbles in a Blender?" -- but she's usually gone between 9-7 weekdays, so she usually doesn't encounter Bryce...

I had this weird old thing called a Prinztronic Micro-5000 and all it played was 20 different versions of Pong. The little pong bit would always get trapped in a corner and make what I later realised was avant-garde noise-art!

@karen Truth. Sometimes at work (where I generally have my earbuds in) somebody will drop by with the "say, watcha listening to?" thing. I try to say "ah, you don't want to know" but then they insist...and I unplug the earbuds and out comes the sound of a busted refrigerator compressor and well...you know...

@woodsofNH and @karen my family just recently stopped sticking their heads in the room and asking me "what are you listening to NOW?" I'd listen to WFMU just for the privacy, even if I didn't like the music

@Greg that is the most apt description I've heard in a long time! Okay if I use that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm
Handy Haversack:

I had a real lull -- starting around age 33! -- but am reborn. I like my brain more and more as it looks for new stuff to listen, if that doesn't synaesthetize overly.

And Kate and I listen to WFMU together whenever we can. Though even Kate has said, "You really like Bryce's show more than you probably should."

Yes!! Edison and his concrete mania! He did make some mining advances that were useful, and his concrete houses, made in a single pour, some of which still stand are in NJ, are looked at today as a possible method with promise. My favorite one was concrete phono cabinets. What could be more bizarre?!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm
Handy Haversack:

@Hubig, if there were a law, it would be against it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm
SSS:

In the '90s', Edison's' patents were re examined, looking to see if anything was missed that could be useful today. One that was found and manufactured today is an amplifier powered by compressed air. Useful to synagogues for sabbath services...non electric! Sold and in use today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm

Kind of like an air powered transistor. One guy blew into a tube to apply pressure, and another spoke into a mike activating a diaphragm, which acted like an analog "gate", if you get me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm

So the painfully cold concrete park bench I sat on last week is Edison's fault?
