Charlie is in Terminal C, listening on the app, a single tear running down his cheek.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm Handy Haversack:

Wikipedia page for Screaming Femails uses "comprises" correctly, restoring hope in the power of kicking serious musical butt!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm Greg from ZONE 5:

Hey Joe & all!
Bummed I missed the Screamales on Saturday…
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm Handy Haversack:

@queems, nice! Where was the show?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm queems:

@handy white eagle hall. and they covered this gang of four!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Greg from ZONE 5:

OK, that was weird. This song started at the *exact second* I got an email about Gang of Four.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm Krys O.:

Good afternoon!
Avatar 12:10pm Joe B:

Greg may I suggest listening to techtonic to find out WHY
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Hoboken Jack:

Hey Joe, hey Greg, hey Krys, hey all! I think the best thing was that it was such a consistently strong bill. No Men was a great post-rock surprise for me, I knew Radioactivity would be great and they totally delivered, Mal Blum was again rock solid, and of course Screamales kicked butt.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 12:12pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Joe, I hope you have a fire extinguisher nearby. This set's on fire!
  12:14pm Charbird:

As Hoboken Jack said, I’m “checking in from Terminal C”, headin back to CA. Is this a possible song title for Joy Cleaner or Resounding No? Good luck with marathon, I’ve already made my pledge to “the best station in the nation”!
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Hoboken Jack:

Joe, any reason why your playlist hasn't switched to the mobile-responsive "to comments/to songs" format? Or should I also listen to Techtonic?
Avatar 12:15pm Joe B:

i dont know what that means jack, so i dont know

Lived in Kansas City for almost 8 years. "Hip" is not a word I would associate with it, but it's a nice town.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm mariano:

Was there a record shop in KC called "Spiny Norman's" when any of you lived there? Some friends of mine owned it.

  1:06pm Amy:

@mariano If there was, I wasn't aware of it. My better half might know it, but I'm not sure if he'll be checking in today. He's a KC native and lived there his whole life before I dragged him back east with me.
  1:06pm Tim from LH:

Seeing The Figgs this Saturday, if they just played the new triple album I’d be happy.

  1:10pm Tim from LH:

First beer is on me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm mariano:

I see, @Amy, thanks - this is going back to the early 90s. I've only been to KC twice, for a couple of days at a time, so I didn't get much of a sense of it, but I really liked the part I was in, Westport I think it was called.
  1:14pm Amy:

@Mariano, Westport is where most of KC's nightlife takes place. It's nice enough.

@Tim from LH, I think I'll be at the Figgs show too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm Nate K.:

Hey, Joe. Sounding good as always.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Mike Sin:

RE: "I'm Wonderin'"
As a GenX'er who watched a lot of MTV back in the day, I can't hear this song without imagining that very disjointed video that came along with the track. Frames of film were removed at set intervals or some such so it would definitely be a bit weird on the eyes IIRC.
  1:31pm John from Florham park:

@Amy you never know what your going to head on this weird wonderful station
@Joe have you ever heard of trio version of after the gold rush?
Avatar 1:31pm Joe B:

tim, i'll believe it when i have it in my hands!
Avatar 1:33pm zivilars:

I'm wonderin' if there will be yet another wonderin' ...
Avatar 1:34pm Hubig Pie:

Mike sin, you are certainly remembering correctly
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Krys O.:

@Mike Sin: Yowza, that was an animation effect. Neil was a video pioneer.
Avatar 1:38pm zivilars:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Handy Haversack:

You're a wonder, Joe B!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm mariano:

  1:44pm John from Florham park:

@Krys O Neil makes great music but he a lot of times comes off as a grouchy get off my lawn type of person
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm Spinning Giant:

Ditto @John from FP - though, I guess I was already a bit of a snob before... LoL ...okay, if I'm being honest, maybe more than a bit :P - it's just that much more amplified now...
Avatar 1:45pm zivilars:

YES! "Rose Garden" never fails to cheer me up, whatever version! There's also a nice live version by Morrissey ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Krys O.:

  1:45pm John from Florham park:

@Spinning giant I could not wait to get out of the cultural wasteland land that was south Florida, no goid music down there
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 1:45pm tim from champaign (now washington):

@John - I hear you. I've been reading about a current therapy trend for people with alzheimers is to play music from their youth. Since I hate most of the music from my youth, I'm going to have a notarized directive stating "Play WFMU if Tim becomes cognitively incapacitated. DO NOT PLAY ANYTHING ELSE NO MATTER HOW TERRIBLE IT SOUNDS TO YOU"
  1:47pm John from Florham park:

@Tim I might just do that too good idea
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm Krys O.:

Another great tune done by many others.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm Krys O.:

@zivilars: I did a cover of Rose Garden in the 90s soundcloud.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm steveo:

Joe, thanks for coming in and playing music on the radio!
Avatar 1:51pm zivilars:

@Krys O.: Just listening to it, nice one! Thanks!!
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 1:52pm ChrisB.:

I saw Lynn Anderson open for Red Skelton when Rose Garden was her big hit, so it had to be around 1970.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 1:52pm tim from champaign (now washington):

That was a great version of Achin To Be.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm Spinning Giant:

@Tim - HaHa! - that's brilliant - I'm going to do the same :P
  1:54pm Joe from MKE:

Woo! Milwaukee!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Spinning Giant:

@JFFP - I'm just outside Toronto - definitely not a cultural wasteland, but there's still little to choose from - the odd show on the local campus stations, though it tends to be alot of gabby politicking, especially during daylight hours; and same on the local Jazz station - certain shows are great - the rest is pap (i.e. elevator muzak jazz versions of the Beatles etc, god forbid some ding dong who's professor told them they can sing lays down a hyper-stylized vocal track over top - PLEASE people, for the love of all that is sacred - stop making jazz covers of back catalogue (or modern for that matter) rock\pop songs!!!) whoa tangent - all that to say... Praise Be to the mighty WFMU!
  1:58pm Jeezy:

I must point out that as a young teen in the 80s, I thought the 1983 video for “Wonderin” was brilliant. Neil just seemed so cool and out there. I think for some of the MTV generation that was put into to Neil...
  1:59pm Jeezy:

  2:23pm John from Florham park:

@Handy on Saturday From 5 to seven I think I told you about someday matinee on the drummer stream with Gina bacon, ask her for some places to see in Nashville
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Spinning Giant:

@JFFP CBC Radio one's okay - if you're looking for new/documentaries/interviews/etc - never find much innaresting in the way of music there - there used to be a fantastic show called Brave new Waves hosted by Patti Schmidt back when I was in University (90s) but since then they've gone for a crown corporation imposed homogeneity that's bland...they don't even feature the most interesting new/upcoming bands from Hoserland (there are many!) but more the chain-store-coffeeshop kinda palate of music - I'll check out that other station tho - thanks for the tip!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Handy Haversack:

You did mention that, John. Couldn't do it this Sat. I can stream the Drummer stream on only one of our ancient computers, and Kate was using the better one for a meeting on Sat. Sticking with Todd-o-phonic Todd wasn't the worst fate. And I did listen to Gina's show in the Archive on Sunday. Sounded great! Will listen in real time as soon as I can and ask for some advice.
  2:31pm John from Florham park:
