Just YOUR beds? Or other WFMU DJs?

I've thought the ultimate marathon premium would be a collection of DJ bed music (including those of shows long gone) so listeners could play pretend WFMU DJ at home.

Cracked tooth. Boo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14am Doug Schulkind:

Jeez, Webhamster Henry. Is that my first ever online playlist?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:14am doctorjazz:

You're on the old home page still, easier (for me) to navigate on my phone. Sent Kenzo an email yesterday about some issues worth it on my phone. This morning, in Meghan:s show, I couldn't get it to work on an iPad (have complicated set up to stream art work, which blocks "entertainment")
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15am Maggie B.:

Glad you're feeling better, Doug. Bill has been home all week with bronchitis. How did you crack your tooth?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15am Webhamster Henry:

No - but pretty early! You played Iva Bittova, who just did a little show here in Kingston a few days ago - with Michael Bisio, Steve Gorn and Timothy Hill.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16am Doug Schulkind:

Hi Mama Maggie B! The tooth is an old problem I've been living with (the way one lives with a hidden electric cattle prod in one's mouth) for months. Stupidly.

Morning, Doug and Drummer Givers.
  11:03am Martinibomb:

Good day Doug! I'm over covering for Jason Elbogen this morning --- just wanted to pop in and say hello
Avatar 11:04am Listener Gregory:

I couldn't talk over this Guaraldi piece--too much going on.
Avatar 11:05am Jeff Moore:

What's going on here, Douglas? Do you have the CD player on quick sample mode?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Doug Schulkind:

Kinda, Jeff Moore.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10am Doug Schulkind:

Howdy, Martinibomb!
Avatar 11:11am Listener Gregory:

Answering my own question: Bill Coleman is the trumpet player with Fats on that piece, according to the Interweb. I don't know him, but he sounds great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14am Doug Schulkind:

Glad I could help, Listener Gregory.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am Doug Schulkind:

Coming up is maybe my FAVORITE new music bed. Except the organ is so freaking wild, talking over it is a crime.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am Doug Schulkind:

This organ is fuckin nuts! Played by Bernard Estardy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am holland oats:

sounds like a hammond going through a phaser
Avatar 11:21am Jeff Moore:

Such a large library of overtalk tunes. Daunting, how do you pick?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23am Doug Schulkind:

"Cristo Redentor." Written by Duke Pearson. Trumpeter Donald Byrd had a "hit" with it on the Blue Note label.
Avatar 11:23am Jeff Moore:

... and we'll never know when to expect the mic break after this set!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23am Doug Schulkind:

@Jeff Moore
I have created more than 300 talkover tracks at this point.
Avatar 11:26am Jeff Moore:

@Doug: Holy poop!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:30am dutchtheo:

Brilliant set, what labor of love , i think the organ is the ultimate bed music instrument
Avatar 11:32am still b/p:

Off-bed topic:
Doug, I keep trying to recommend the Ethiopian vehicle-horn-blowing music to eager people, and then I can't come up with those tracks in a search. Can you point me?
Avatar 11:32am Listener Gregory:

I believe Ultimate Bed Instruments was the name of Doug's first band, but I could be wrong.
  11:36am davefromtoronto:

don't put this show to bed!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:38am JtotheK:

I like this Timmy Thomas take on Sade.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38am Doug Schulkind:

Sorry I can't comment too much. Trying to edit on the fly to fit more in!!!

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:40am JtotheK:

The Commodores did a great version of Keep On Dancing, and it's a 45 that I figured would turn up all the time but ... does not.
Avatar 11:40am Listener Gregory:

@JtotheK, is that a Sade song? From 1972??
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:41am sinner:

Ninety O! Ninety O!
Avatar 11:41am still b/p:

Yes, so naturally I start asking you today to find something else entirely for me. Mind like an unmade bed, I got. Strike the inquiry.
  11:42am davefromtoronto:

i think he was being sarcastic/facetious
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:42am JtotheK:

@Gregory, no I was making a foolish comment - Sade version is much later than the Timmy Thomas...
  11:42am Jeff G.:

This show is bonkers in the best way.

It's on her 'Diamond Life' record. I haven't spun Sade records lately, gonna have to do so!

Great show/idea Doug. 77 and counting.
Avatar 11:51am still b/p:

"Bonkers Indeed" was the first rock opera Doug wrote in middle school.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53am Doug Schulkind:

@Brian in UK
I'm not going to hit 90. Had to leave out a whole sequence. I'm just not working hard enough.
  11:53am Marie:

Just able to tune in now. Howdy! Exciting song.

Thanks Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm WR:

I've saved this show in the WFMU app for repeated listening and it's bugging me that your loop of Forever is credited only as Pete Drake & His Talking Steel Guitar although your loop features only Floyd Cramer's distinctive piano playing. I'm ok that there is no Pete Drake steel vocalizing, but come on, let's credit Cramer since he is in the spotlight of segment you loop. Ah, feel better getting that off my chest. On to other major injustices and wrongs in the world crying out to be righted.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Doug Schulkind:

@WR
Right you are, and I feel terrible. When I created the loop, I edited out Pete Drake, for chrissakes. What an idiot! (There was something about the talking steel that was, I think, too distracting to hear behind my voice.) Nevertheless, dissing Floyd Cramer is unacceptable!
