Therese, did you take pictures of these misplaced tumbleweeds? And if you did,can we see them?
Avatar 5:28pm
tomB:

Stories of people in SW US decorating tumbleweeds in lieu of conifer began appearing in th 60s.

I never thought I was going to say this but I wish it would stay cold for a while, people can get sick from these up and down temperatures

Great show so far, Therese. Thank you! Remember, the equation for Algebra Suicide is 1x + 2x = xxx

There is a neighborhood in Tuscon called Winterhaven, and every Christmas people throw all this holiday junk all over their front lawns, including snowmen made of tumbleweeds,

@Franco Twinkie- I did not, but I will if I see another. Or the same one again...

When I was younger I would have a sneezing attack if it was hot in the East Bay and I drove into the San Francisco fog.
Avatar 5:39pm
Mod Mokka Matti:

While it seems the East coast is entering spring/summer mode, we here in Pugetopolis (Western WA) are still chilly and anticipating some snow in the lowlands in the next day or so. At least that's what I heard on the radio - though as a native, I know well enough to not count on any degree of accuracy in local weather forecasts...

Franco, I grew up with tumbleweed snowmen.

@Therese...did you used to bar tend at a place near WARSAW in Brooklyn? I have a memory of a bartender there a year or so ago hearing me mention WFMU to my buddy. We got to talking and it turns out she hosted a show on Sundays on WoofMoo. Anyhow...if so, I went to that place months back...and it was closed! If it's you, I hope you landed another bartending gig, if that's what ya want. Thanks for the tunes.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:01pm
Mr. Pumpy:

@Therese...the first track of today's set caught my eye in that it is on the Elektrohasch Schallplatten label. I got into this label as it is owned and operated by Colour Haze guitarist/vocalist Stefan Koglek. Colour Haze is a great fuzzed out rock band from Germany. I suggest you give them a spin, if you haven't already. They just dropped their 13th album, 'We Are'. Also, a personal favorite, and a good starting place, is Tempel (2006).
  6:04pm
Jett:

Is Elvis still alive, Therese? I thought I saw him squeezing tomatoes at the supermarket about 2 years ago.

YesthatMattHall:

This will mark me as, well, unusual, but earlier this week while walking my poodle I realized that ZZ Top's "Jesus Just Left Chicago (and he's bound for New Orleans) " is probably about Elvis, and not Jesus really at all...
Because Elvis was often "in the air", and as the lyric goes, "taking care of business is his name."
  6:11pm
Jett:

Danzig with that wide belt and rhinestones?

Linda was quite awesome, especially during the sixties and early seventies!

  6:28pm

@Jett I consider her awesome when she did show tunes and a threesome doing a Neil young song after the gold rush
  6:33pm
Jett:

@John After that Prelude version it seemed a bit redundant not not a bad performance. I tended to always prefer Country sounding Linda! She was extremely talented. When I saw the documentary at the theater last summer, I felt very sad afterwards.
