I think the CR vinyl in '95 was the first SE Asian 60s garage rock I heard, but there had been comps of Japanese stuff before then.

Very very much enjoyed the Thai music feature with knowledgeable guest host. Wish more was played. Recently started reading a novel by Thai American. Bangkok Wakes to Rain by Pitchaya Sudbanthad; a multi threaded fiction with characters in Bangkok which included a late 1960s Afro-American jazz pianist who had had some minor past success. I knew there would have been similar musicians but didn't know of Maurice Rocco who has to be at least in part the source for the character.
