Favoriting Bryce: Playlist from January 3, 2020 Favoriting

I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

@sphere: Crack Pie was a pretty good name. But if they got a yen to change it for some dumb reason, they couldn't just call it a chess pie (which it basically is)?

@ Jeff Moore - i honestly don't know. they definitely wanted to move away from the word "crack" but i guess they wanted to still associate it with Momofuku Milk Bar (where it is from).

Interesting - I've been watching the Ken Burns documentary on country music, and in the episodes dealing with historical antecedents, they showed Appalachian musicians who did similar vocal rhythms to this Inuit song.

The Inuit throat singing is really interesting if you don’t know much about it. It gets really intense in a live setting. There’s a little video about it here: https://youtu.be/DLMlkjnYe0U

Fox:

One of the greatest musical influences of my life was my music teacher in elementary school. She was so clearly a hippy. I remember distinctly that she told us, at some point between first and fourth grade, that "music is organized sound".

I challenged this, and asked her about whatever crazy examples of sounds that could be planned I could think of, and every time she agreed that such would be music. It blew my mind.

One early step towards grooming me for WFMU's weirdness.
