Carolina Eyck | Absence | Elegies For Theremin & Voice | Butterscotch | 2019 | 3rd album / The theremin is an electronic musical instrument controlled without physical contact by the thereminist (performer). It is named after its inventor, Léon Theremin (Лев Термен), who patented the device in 1928. The instrument's controlling section usually consists of two metal antennas that sense the relative position of the thereminist's hands and control oscillators for frequency with one hand, and amplitude (volume) with the other. The electric signals from the theremin are amplified and sent to a loudspeaker. The theremin was the product of Soviet government-sponsored research into proximity sensors. The instrument was invented by a young Russian physicist named Lev Sergeyevich Termen (known in the West as Léon Theremin) in October 1920 after the outbreak of the Russian Civil War. After a lengthy tour of Europe, during which time he demonstrated his invention to packed houses, Theremin moved to the United States, where he patented his invention in 1928. Subsequently, Theremin granted commercial production rights to RCA. / Eyck uses a fixed arm position per octave, and uses fixed positions of the fingers to create the notes within the octave, allowing very fast transitions between adjacent notes. | * | 2:25:10 (Pop-up)

Simple Minds | All The Things She Said | Once Upon A Time | 6th album / Childhood friends Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill emerged from the ashes of Glasgow punk outfit Johnny & The Self-Abusers in November 1977. In true punk fashion, the Self-Abusers released one independent single, "Saints And Sinners," and split up the same day. Two weeks later, singer Kerr and guitarist Burchill started Simple Minds, taking their name from a line in Bowie’s "The Jean Genie." The duo was then augmented by keyboardist Mick MacNeil, bassist Derek Forbes and drummer Brian McGee. Forbes left before the recording of this album and was replaced by John Giblin & singer Robin Clark was added to the lineup, as well | 2:51:41 (Pop-up)

Some of us took up the offer, and I found myself hanging onto a wing spar, one foot on the planes' right tire, the other out in the slipstream. We'd been told that once we let go of the spar, to count to three.and if the static line had not automatically deplaoyed the 'chute, we were to take action by getting to the secondary chute we wore on our chests.
When the jumpmaster gave me the nod and I let go of the spar, there was no counting to three. There was no thought whatever. I could have been falling for a millisecond or a millenium, couldn't tell.
The space between two thoughts. Oh, my, yes.

Yet many times when I type Coldspring it adds harbor. And Carol just described a spot in Coldspring in the woods and near a church.
Coldspring actually borders our town along with Garrison and Kent
It’s a cool little town loaded with speed traps for the rich Manhattanites not to be confused with Carolytes which are actually sonata crystals from the moons sub surface
