good clam chowder, that is -which is twice as rare as good fruitcake.
fortunately the best ne clam chowder on earth is made and sold right in my town.
lots of fat, protein and salt. i think that's what helps the hangover.

i like that one because it isn't full of potatoes, which is just cheap filler. it also has no meat besides seafood.
but i add a whole stalk of celery, cut tiny and steamed first, a little onion, usually some sherry or marsala, black pepper...maybe a little turmeric powder (not fresh) some sage &/or tarragon.
...maybe i indulge too much!
