You could witness Jaki Liebezeit jamming quite often in the 80ies/90ies.
This doesn't mean the jams were all good, but jaki was open.
But his rants are legend, when some "expert" started fumbling around.

@lcbd omg it was SO stressful. and i’m covered in bruises from trying to reach under my dresser to grab her. but she’ll love me again someday. and yes, he’s a good egg. he walked in and said “you just need the confidence of a straight white man in america” and proceeded to get her out from under the dresser in 8 minutes.

Actually in NYC for the week - my elderly cousin (Brendan Gill)(85) was one of the 6 pedestrians killed last week (10days?) in NYC by motor vehicles.
