One sad New Year's Eve many years ago I was at my parents' house by myself. Even my parents went out. I remember watching the Porky's trilogy on USA Up All Night and dipping into my parents' liquor stash that had been sitting in the basement since 1972.

There’s a big old ramshackle hotel across from the graveyard where Robert Frost is buried & my grandma used to say that Bing Crosby went there every year around Christmas to go on a drunken debauche & that’s what white Christmas is actually about... getting drunk by yourself at a hotel in Vermont hahaha
