And agreed - what a week. Sit down for this -- but I found a very desirable 45. A cover of Clarence Carter's "Strokin'" by Bobby Marchan. On the Manicure Records label. How did I not know about this before???
The only Manicure Records release I have is a cassette of MC Wiz called Hit the Bridge. It’s a New Orleans rap tape trying to get in on the Bronx Queens “Bridge feud” but I doubt anyone in NY ever heard it.
*Also "very desirable" applies to very few people. Me, and the single biggest supporter of "Strokin'" at WFMU - SM Ken. I'm hoping I can get him MP3 files of the track and lobby for WFMU airplay.
I’ve seen some other manicure releases in shops here. He released a 12” EP in 94 called Bobby’s Back. Based on the record, I’m not completely convinced.
Matt - is the Hit the Bridge record an answer to MC Shan? I'm w-a-a-a-y behind on rap 12" singles (I like when I hear disco-rap on Billy Jam show) and periodically consult Freddy Fresh 'Rap Records' book and then realize good grief what am I getting myself into. (More records, I mean.)
The southern cross which totally ruined an already terrible movie for me. My college buddy Brad who’s now an executive in Hollywood had PAed on 7 Years in Tibet which was shot in the Andes and he dragged a bunch of us to see it when it came out and early on there’s a night scene looking up at the sky and I see the southern cross and my disbelief was shattered.
No one else knew anything about constellations so that had no effect on them but they all still hated it as well. I truly felt like I spent seven years in that theater.
Heyo, Damon. Matt: I had a similar experience with The Irishman when they were supposed to be in Detroit and they kept showing a bridge that looks like no structure within hundreds of miles of Detroit.
One I've brought up before is The Oh In Ohio where Parker Posey and Danny Devito are up on a hill looking down on Terminal Tower and the TV show Angel where they end up in Muncie and spend the whole show driving up steep Hollywood hills.

I'm not sure if enough movies have been set in KC but filmed elsewhere for me to find any obvious mistakes. "Planes, Trains, Automobiles" but the Missouri license plates correct, for example.
I do remember some late 90s movie remake (House on Haunted Hill?) that ends with the Sun *rising* over the Pacific Ocean. Which... yeah.
