	10:30pm Franco Twinkie: Regarding the Banana Splits: The opening of the show when they recklessly drove around in those fiberglass dune buggy type things, and then were shown playing Vox guitars has really stuck with me. Other than that, what did they do?

I watched Laugh In all the time in its day, but when rewatched as an adult some years ago, it's a fun time capsule but much of the quick sketch stuff in it is dreadful. I did feel enough loyalty or nostalgia to take a bit of umbrage when in a book about SNL's early years, some of the SNL writers regarded Laugh In's comedy and style with contempt.

	10:45pm coelacanth∅: yeah i don't know who's up high on a horse from saturday night live but i thought (and think) snl was washed up by 1980 -as far as being funny is concerned.

	10:46pm Mod Mokka Matti: Goats are totally badass. Which reminds me - my best of my extremely limited theatrical performances was as one of the Billy Goats Gruff - in Preschool. By Kindergarten, I had been cast downward as a radish in Peter Rabbit.

	10:47pm Funky16Corners: My one and only theatrical experience was in the 3rd grade playing Cicero in Julius Caesar (I swear to god)
	10:47pm Franco Twinkie: Laugh in followed The Monkees on Monday night in L.A. On one particular occasion I decided I was not going to eat zucchini and announced my decision with a disparaging remark. Well, my father said if that was the case I couldn't leave the table until I had indeed finished my zucchini. Monkees be damned. I missed the episode that Tim Buckley was on, but he relented when Laugh-in was half over.

Look and be stirred! i.pinimg.com... coel -- The book, written in mid 80's I think, about the birth and early days pretty much agreed that by early 80s and at the time of the writing, the show was in the dumper. These days, they can hit funny moments. But all its shows have been irregular, of course, across all its decades.

	10:59pm coelacanth∅: s b/p that's good they acknowledge it anyway. it was so great at first; but i recall after some of the wildest of the cast were gone being over friends' houses and they'd never deviated from the routine established when it was good, and there were literally 2-3 kind of 1/2 smirks per episode. i stopped sticking around or i protested to not turn it on, and never looked back.

	11:16pm still b/p: A friend and I recently discussed performing Last Train in the manner of a slow, strong, emotive Irish ballad -- speeding back up only for the dee-dee-dee-dee part, changing it to deedle-didle deedle-didle, of course.
	11:17pm Funky16Corners: Back in the day I tried to get my band to do a Husker Du style version of Pleasant Valley Sunday. It never made it out of rehearsal.

	11:20pm still b/p: Producers originally tried to call his character "Wool Hat." In UK materials, such as comics, the name stuck a while.

Well guess what? 7-11 pizza is the food equivalent of some of these covers - kind of like the real thing, but not quite. Plus, I burnt it because I was busy typing!

	11:32pm coelacanth∅: the trader joe's pizzas all have the same cheese shortage (and i'm not an extra-cheese kind of person) i always add cheese toward the edge all around. then a few fat cloves of sliced garlic, some black pepper and a drizzle of olives oyls ...mm mm mm.

	11:34pm Funky16Corners: Speaking of Trader Joes, on the way downstairs tonight I grabbed abaggy off the kitchen counter that I thought contained cookies, but was in fact filled with this amazing Trader Joes, Mexican Street Corn flavored corn chips. Spicy but delicious!

I watched Laugh In all the time in its day, but when rewatched as an adult some years ago, it's a fun time capsule but much of the quick sketch stuff in it is dreadful. I did feel enough loyalty or nostalgia to take a bit of umbrage when in a book about SNL's early years, some of the SNL writers regarded Laugh In's comedy and style with contempt.

On one particular occasion I decided I was not going to eat zucchini and announced my decision with a disparaging remark. Well, my father said if that was the case I couldn't leave the table until I had indeed finished my zucchini. Monkees be damned. I missed the episode that Tim Buckley was on, but he relented when Laugh-in was half over.

These days, they can hit funny moments. But all its shows have been irregular, of course, across all its decades.

	10:59pm coelacanth∅: s b/p that's good they acknowledge it anyway. it was so great at first; but i recall after some of the wildest of the cast were gone being over friends' houses and they'd never deviated from the routine established when it was good, and there were literally 2-3 kind of 1/2 smirks per episode. i stopped sticking around or i protested to not turn it on, and never looked back.
