Having played with Mary (and bearing in mind that I am not 0.5% of the player Frisell is), I can hear the Maryness of the way she improvises with other people of this version of Shenandoah -- she has kind of an echo-and-distort thing she does that is just terrific.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27am Doug Schulkind:

Hello, Raissa! Yes, a lesser known but well loved artist. He was Bill Frisell's teacher in the '70s.

The lineup on the Andrew Hill performance:

Andrew Hill (p), Bennie Maupin (ts), Sanford Allen (vi), Alfred Brown (vio), Selwart Clarke (vio), Ron Carter (b), Freddie Waits (d)
  11:17am Mark R:

Bennie Maupin, man...Ron Carter and Freddie Waits are great, too, but I've honestly not heard of the violin players except Selwart, he's on some album or the other that I have. The strings added a wild, offbeat texture to that piece. Hampton Hawes is great discovery, I came to him rather late, but better late than never, right?
  11:18am Mark R:

Beautiful version of "Young at Heart." It's no accident he was on so many Mingus albums. He's really great on that "Cornell 1964" album.

Maybe they can put some high end luxury housing on Riker's. They could just make a first class version of the existing prison.
  11:25am Alex In Illinois:

Demolish Riker's Island? I guess they could not make condos out of the existing buildings.
Avatar 11:25am Listener Gregory:

I am really not into "singles going steady." I am more of a "singles, let's take it one day at a time and see what develops" kind of person.
