As to meetings, ever notice that even if they're paid time away from harder work, they're still an annoying interruption in that work? I mean, even if it's unpleasant work you dislike, a meeting is worse.

	4:09pm Avrilinmay: à propos of earworms, this morning I heard Al Green's Love & Happiness on W&B, and I couldn't find for the life of me, after hours spent looking it up sporadically throughout the whole day, what other song has those few chords that play at the beginning and come back a few times around. Yet I swear it exists because I heard before ... (in case a ginni is amongst us and would know it, it's none of those listed on whosampledit dot com nor shazam ..)

	4:19pm Jack: I always thought that Baker's "jazzier" drumming style made Cream a much more interesting power trio (and Jack Bruce; Clapton not so much) There was definately too much hype about his playing. The doc was good. In many ways he was a typical jazz drummer; lifelong junkie and alcoholic)

Cream came exactly between The Who & the Jimi Hendrix Experience - both in History - & in Evolution... Baker was not as fluid (...tho' he did have natural facility @ playing polyrythms...) nor as varied as either Moon or Mitchell (who were very much those things) - but he did have strenght & crazy endurance. & - his own Voice on the instrument. Just as he had his own Voice in everything...the definition of a Leo Monster...& Talent... 'BEWARE Mr. Baker'...he did hit the Filmaker inna face...

	5:07pm flashbazbo: I never have understood drumming. Can a great drummer be on bad material? Or a bad drummer on a great song? How is the worth of it calculated? I think that if I ever hear a very able drummer on a bad song I probably don't hear it.

	5:10pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63: Drummers keep Time. The Rhythm Section. Especially in these RawkaRolla Dance Musics & stuffs... Beyond that - they can contribute to the Arrangement or Interpretation like anyone else.

	5:10pm Jack: flashbazbo-a good creative drummer can make a song or a band much more interesting. A drummer is not there just to keep the beat. Some drummer keep good time, but are boring.

	5:17pm coelacanth∅: buddy rich shamed everybody that wasn't jazz because he was just that simple-minded. he made Baker seem like a sweetheart.
	5:17pm Irwin: Very few rock drummers can credibly play jazz and vice versa. Generally true that a good band with a bad drummer is a bad band. One exception was the original Spirit, whose recorded legacy is supreme despite having one of the clumsiest drummers in rock, Ed Cassidy. He was reportedly a good jazz drummer, but he could not adapt to rock. His fills were mediocre, his solos atrocious.
	5:17pm Jack: I don't think Bonham was technically a great drummer, but Led Zepplin with a jazz drummer? Nope. The Who with a jazzbo? No!

Drummer gotta match the Band - obviously where we're going ... Bonham - had Power, Funk - & the Sound everybody wants from their kit & in the studio too. That's why he's Sampled constantly.
	5:19pm Irwin: If you've never heard Bent Knee, they're like "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" with a better vocalist.

I mean - the Musician most compatible w/ & indispensable to Jimi Hendrix. Wow. Focus always on Jimi - understandably... I'm rare round here - love the doors. Flamenco/Slide Gittar - Densmore from Jazz - Manzarek so talented - & that Frontman - I'm sorry - great Writer, Singer - & fairly notable Performer...quite a combo... Drummer gotta fit Band. Great Musicians don't always work together! Altho' many say that's one of the moral codes - that you should be up for that...

	5:25pm ?: re: Watts, I never thought there was much there, but as a drummer I have recently been focusing obsessively on tempo and how minute variations in pace and meter can profoundly alter whether a song is great or . . . not. I just listened to 'Fool to Cry', and the beat is very simple, but it is absolutely masterful in terms of pacing, tempo and feel
	5:25pm flashbazbo: Jack: I do get that. A lot of drum talk seems to challenge me to imagine my favorite songs were not good enough because the drummer ruined it. My life's complicated enough. If I hear a bad drummer on a favorite song I have to imagine my mind compensates for it, just like optical nerves do, and other body parts that act to smooth things out.

Baker was not as fluid (...tho' he did have natural facility @ playing polyrythms...) nor as varied as either Moon or Mitchell (who were very much those things) - but he did have strenght & crazy endurance. & - his own Voice on the instrument. Just as he had his own Voice in everything...the definition of a Leo Monster...& Talent... 'BEWARE Mr. Baker'...he did hit the Filmaker inna face...

	5:17pm Irwin: Very few rock drummers can credibly play jazz and vice versa. Generally true that a good band with a bad drummer is a bad band. One exception was the original Spirit, whose recorded legacy is supreme despite having one of the clumsiest drummers in rock, Ed Cassidy. He was reportedly a good jazz drummer, but he could not adapt to rock. His fills were mediocre, his solos atrocious.
