ron-ji:

UFO cult, yay! I just started rereading Slaughterhouse-5 and had been wondering if there has been a cult that actually took the Tralfamadorians literally. (The Tralfamadore Cafe, now simply the Tralf—a longtime music venue in Buffalo—does not count.) Anyone know of any true believers? Vonnegut fans were pretty fanatic in the early 70s, heyday of cult consciousness in America, so it seems likely.

There is not a single element of this band's music that DOESN'T suck.

Another pop cult-ure question for Fr. Micah and the Tuesday Hive Mind Congregation: I have in my possession a paperback called CONCLAVE: 4th MEETING, self-published by Portals of Light, Inc. in 1992 and purportedly “received thru Tuleta,” a channel to some UFO folk. The title now makes me wonder if they were an offshoot of these folks (Unarius). There are lots of books in the series, and this one is so fascinating I am kind of tempted to pay good money for the others. The first one was free, but ain’t that always how they get you hooked?

In my search for more Doukhobors on iTunes just now I found a Folkways recording (in English) from BC in the early 60s along with Pete Seeger doing a Malvina “Little Boxes” Reynolds song called “Why Not Do as the Doukhabors Do” about using nudity as protest.
