Total Control is such a good band - don't have the album you are playing from but really like.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11am
Franco Twinkie:

True story: Right after Woodstock my parents bought a set of World Book encyclopedias. I asked the salesman if Woodstock would be in a future edition. This caused howls of laughter and much eye rolling. My parents never let me forget it. I haven't checked, but I'll bet it is now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12am

This was a big record for me 40 years ago.

Is this Ian Matthews? Excellent choice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47am
coelacanth∅:

up here we refer to the town of woodstock (which of course rejected their town for the festival at the 11th hour, after it was all supposedly set)
as weirdstock.
...there *is* a reason!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50am
coelacanth∅:

agreeing with Carmichael. it's beautiful and i don't think i've ever heard it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50am

Yes Ian Matthews - I learned today that this song went to #1 in the UK

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59am

Franco no not sinister! just that woodstock is jammed with old poseurs who act like they're representin' when they're just colorful capitalists;and stores marketing their junk or their mediocre-at-best food with hippiehype to young tourists and college students from new paltz...

hey you can take it with however many grains of salt you wish, but i heard the brown acid is not specifically too good.
but it's your trip.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15am
coelacanth∅:

so it says Uncle Frank moved to utah and was in another band called free spirit.
does that sound right? and was it a "spiritual" band?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17am
Franco Twinkie:

This set really captures the lost Saturday night augmented by some light blue tablets found in the pocket of a suede jacket left in the backseat of a 1962 Ford Falcon in Isla Vista.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20am

Uncle Frank came from Manila, with (most of) the rest of my aunts and uncles on this one boat, which was called the "S.S. Hancock." They landed in Santa Maria and the rest is history.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23am

i love psychedelic mormon music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24am
TomDash:

Went a little heavy on this set to clear the mind a bit! Glad you're digging it...next set will be searching for a little space....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28am
Franco Twinkie:

These kind of bands would play next to the merry-go-round in Griffith Park on Sunday afternoons in 1972.
  1:33am
BH:

it sorta goes against the spirit of Hendrix's Woodstock contract to play Woodstock stuff and not play the Hendrix stuff last.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36am
coelacanth∅:

you could look at it another way, because it was held on a weekend and the dates only deviate by one day; so 50 years ago tonight, on (the nearest) saturday night, who was playing between 12mn and 3am?
Avatar 1:36am
Scraps:

All of Crosby Stills Nash & Young are still alive. And Crosby is still an idiot asshole (haven’t met any of the others)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37am
TomDash:

BH - I didn't actually PLAY any Woodstock stuff...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38am
coelacanth∅:

(or, 50 years +/- 1 day)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41am
TomDash:

Coelacantho - I am going by actual dates - Aug 15-18 (it was Friday to Monday) - 50 yrs later, this week it falls Thursday thru Sunday...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44am
TomDash:

...another fun fact, because stuff got so backed up Saturday night, The Who headlined at 5AM! They played all of Tommy plus a few tracks from 5-6AM! crazy...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48am
coelacanth∅:

i know. i'm saying that giving a 1 day allowance is another way to look at it because it's like -what are we doing on this saturday nigh; what were THEY doing on this saturday night?
(...probably is a more interesting distinction on monday morning though)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50am
TomDash:

ah - gotcha - sorry the music is making my mind all fuzzy and stuff...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51am
coelacanth∅:

this is fuzzmaking music.
  1:54am
diciassette:

Does your Crosby look like this * ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55am
Franco Twinkie:

According to the unimpeachable crap you read on the internet, The Who never forgave the Grateful Dead for not getting their stoned asses off the stage when they were supposed to, so The Who could go on at the reasonable time of 3AM! And with that, I'm going to bed. Thanks Tom, Coel and all you other history buffs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56am
TomDash:

Thanks for tunin' in Franco - glad you dug the tunes...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02am

seems likely to me that the dead would've done that.
i doubt any members of the who will carry/carried that grudge to his grave though.
i hope not!

I was kinda disappointed that they didn't try to do Woodstock 50 because it would be very authentic to have that be a logistical disaster.
