I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

@rw! I got the ice cream box!!!!!! The delivery day was filled with tension because the buzzer of my apartment is broken and my phone has been broken for a while now so there was no way for the delivery guy to alert me of his arrival. But it arrived safe and sound and passed the cat inspection! Thank you so much!!!!!!!!

Horrible surprise at the local supermarket today. This being a quiet week, they decided to renovate the ice cream section. Which means: No ice cream! After the heat wave we got this week, this was not a welcome development

my father's, mine now, are mostly crap like ordinary boats and buildings. it's possible though that the many slides from my childhood are in there somewhere.

Okay, I need to head out here in a sec. Mayuko if you want this thing it's yours. It's a little bulky but cool. It has a projector and also a sort of built in screen. Takes up some space in the closet.

Thanks chresti! It was fun! Remember when life was fun?? Okay, it's not so bad now but still.

Mayuko, I'm a little curious about the ice cream delivery. There must have been dry ice involved. Also wondering if you liked them?? It's okay if not.

Years ago I was visiting with a friend in Prague. Like me he is a Mexican-American from Los Angeles. I asked him how he dealt with the totally unexceptable Mexican food. He said he could throw together a suitable version with ingredients from Spain. Tortillas? I asked. "Well believe it or not, Kmart has pretty good tortillas." Wait a minute! Talk of saudade reminds again a a murami book colorless tsukuru, on the topic of Franz Listzs “mal de pays” Maybe not saudade but related to giving a word to a feeling

copied from a blog

When Tsukuru first hears Haida’s recording of Franz Liszt’s ‘Le mal du pays,’ from the Years of Pilgrimage suite ‘Year 1: Switzerland,” it is described as “a quiet, sorrowful piece that began with a slow, memorable theme played out as single notes, then proceeded into a series of tranquil variations” (68). Tsukuru asks Haida about it. Haida says, ‘Le mal du pays’ is French and is “usually translated ‘homesickness,’ or ‘melancholy’, or as precise a translation as can be managed ‘a groundless sadness called forth in a person’s heart by a pastoral landscape’” (69). Tsukuru adds that the piece evokes “a calm sadness without being sentimental.”
