did they put rue in ale? rue is an element in a pregnancy-termination concoction, along with pennyroyal and tansy.
not recommended for weak or sick people, since it is poison.

on my sister's property we use thyme as a ground cover over some fairly large areas, and when the thyme goes, it's usually because it lost track of itself and smothered

rue may be beneficial in relieving nervous spasms, painful cramps, menstrual pain, and headaches, apparently...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm
David D:

Maybe it's a built-in hangover remedy (half-kidding?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm
coelacanth∅:

so maybe rue adds to the head
(not the head on the brew; the head in the head)
like wormwood, but like wormwood, is poisonous.

A recent Fanfare review of this recording of Kodály’s cello works -- http://www.musicweb-international.com/classrev/2018/Mar/Kodaly_cello_95574.htm -- concludes, "Várdai and Würtz have found unexpected depth in these scores, revealing how great Kodály’s gifts as a composer actually were, something we overlook because of the long shadow cast by Bartók and the fact that Kodály’s field work, writing, and teaching squeezed his output of compositions into a relatively small scope. It took these revelatory performances to remind me of his stature, and I won’t forget again." I can't wait to hear it.

I remember hearing Iona Brown when she was first chair (pretty sure?) with LA Chamber Orchestra. I associate her with, say, Vivaldi. Good to hear that she wandered farther afield into later music, much like Andrew Manze, who now conducts much later composers, e.g., Vaughan Williams.

Sorry, I was watching the WC, then took a nap. It was 40C/101F earlier, thankfully, it's now raining, but a leetle too much as I lost power for an hour.

I never got past 2nd chair in any of my respective instruments, yet, I was always my instrument leader, even as a sophomore (I was a wee bit thick headed, but good leadership quality, apparently)>

@David: Let's just say it was so stressful, I took a shot in the middle. I think I performed well. Thankfully it was just a phone interview. But it was for Duke Power, as a subcontractor. But beggars can't be choosers.
