@Rev Rabbit: How dare you call me human!

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Right ?! It's a broad genome, ngh. & - the reference is broader...

@Rev Rabbit: I've been accused of being a hominid, I think that suffices....

Hi Dan! I think Sainkho just finished a tour of China with Ned Rothenberg and Samm Bennett.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25pm

@Tom -- that's cool! Would like to see those three together!

@Dan: reminds me of Shirley Hirsch.

A bunch of Erin Gee's "Mouthpiece" series are over here: www.erin-gee.com...

Also, the TAK video plays well layered on top of the actual broadcast.

@NGH, funny you should say that...she's on the song that'll be up next!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm
Dan Bodah:

The singer on this TAK tune = Charlotte Mundy
Avatar 7:31pm

I know Shirley via her partner. A dj friend of mine recorded a 3" disc w/ her in Moscow, but, I can't find anything to play it w/ to record it.

SainkhoKosmos: Sainkho Namchylak (vocal)
Ned Rothenberg (reeds) Kazuhisa Uchihashi (guitar, daxophone) Peter Scherr (bass) Samm Bennett (drums, vocal, jaw harp)

Said that @ one late Concert for Coltrane - Japan? - he started vocalizing & beating on his chest (??) - saying he'd finally run out of things to play!
...I think he'd be down...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm
Dan Bodah:

@NGH, any CD player with a tray should have a little recess in the center of the tray -- it's designed to hold those 3" CDs.

wow this is that guy! still singing!
Avatar 7:34pm
Tom Miller:

Also, turns out the daxophone is a thing: dfiction.com...

@tak, yep, Peter's still going strong and exploring new things.

'I was drawn to its uncanny vocal timbres, that sound somewhere between a badger and a cello' ! :))
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37pm
Dan Bodah:

"I could not afford a badger cello"
Avatar 7:38pm
northguineahills:

@Dan: I've bought many cd players, from Chinatown and box stores, but they don't play cdrs. My car plays 20+ year old cdrs, but not 3" cds.

@Tom: I had a friend who played a daxophone, oddly enough.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Like on 'Quick One' by TheWho 1966 - they just sing 'cello cello cello' rather than hire one...
Avatar 7:39pm

@Tom: my friend's didn't look as an artistic masterpiece as your example....

So glad you're playing Kalama's Quartet! I discovered them a year ago. Coincidentally, there is a town near me called Kalama, Washington, and it is home to a hotel restaurant with a Hawaiian theme:
