Man, Suzy Q, another one I remember from the UK, early 70s. When I moved to Brasil in 1974, all the kids wanted to know if there was a Portuguese connection to her, because Quatro means 4 in Portuguese.

medson:

Ok TOPT. Counting on you to get me through a shit day at work. I’ll have ya turned up.

Todd-o-phonic Todd:

@G: Yup Twink and Steve Howe were in The In Crowd which then morphed into Tomorrow.
Avatar 3:39pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Tomorrow's album is great! 'White Bicycle' is on every comp. - & - they has others. Just sayin'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm
G:

Yep, that was my recollection. In maybe the late 90s Howe put out a CD called Mothballs that had that In Crowd song on it, as well as samples of everything he played on down through Bodast (just before Yes, 1970).

@RRNov63: " In an interview by Nick DeRiso for Something Else! [Howe said] that his band Tomorrow was very much influenced by Zappa: "(...) Frank Zappa was a kind of subtle influence on me, too. He had that madness going on with the Mothers of Invention, which Tomorrow absolutely loved. And then I met Frank Zappa in 1967, and he walked into this room and said: “I really like ‘Claramount Lake.’” It was a B-side to Tomorrow’s (1967) song “My White Bicycle.” There was certainly some of the psychedelia that we were into, but it was a drone-y, slightly jazz guitar solo... I said to Frank Zappa: “How do you know about that?,” and he told me: “No, that’s a really good guitar solo.” Having somebody like him say that made me think: “I must be doing something right here. Frank likes ‘Claramount Lake!’” "

Marc Bolan had made that sexually ambiguous male/female thing so popular in UK pop in the early 70s. Bolan was the biggest thing on the charts in 1971-72. I think that gave Bowie the hint to go right ahead in that direction, too...
