I don't subscribe to the "all politicians are bad" worldview. (Not saying that you do, Brian in UK.) I guess I still believe that there can be a conjoining of idealism and policymaking. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is keeping that faint glimmer flickering right now.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50am Doug Schulkind:

A description of this current LP:

"The record that was issued in 1972 as a collaborative work between famous drama collective Tenjo Sajiki leaded by Shuji Terayama and group Singers Three. All lyrics were written by Terayama and music was written by Makoto Wada - an artist (worked with Tadanori Yokoo), composer, director and experimentator. Actually the disk material were compositions for two Terayama's and Wada's drama performances: for the first, The Crime of Debuko Oyama (yet from 1967-68), for the second - Shadow Thief on famous comics motives. It belongs to rock music very indirectly - mostly it is a mix of a few old styles: European cabaret with a tart taste of decadence, pre-war jazz in Louis Armstrong vein, bright country with a merry banjo and Japanese theater."

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:41am doctorjazz:

I've mentioned this before, but Lee Konitz was the substitute teacher for my jazz history class at Brooklyn College in the mid 70s (ahem...). The regular teacher, Chuck Israels, was away on a gig for a week. Konitz put Miles' On The Corner on, played his alto along, and stopped to comment here and there. I had no clue at the time that he (or my regular teacher) were any big deal, but I loved the classes (and my listening changed at that point).
  10:42am Listener Gregory:

Thore Swanerud is obviously an anagram for "underwear host."
  10:43am Listener Gregory:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06am Doug Schulkind:

"Jeannine" was composed by the pianist Duke Pearson. The song was written for his 6-year-old niece. Apparently, Pearson was not pleased that the Jeannine in Jefferson's version is a grown-up woman doing things that grown-up women do.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Doug Schulkind:

Written by Eddie Cornelius, the song had great success upon its re-release."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41am Uncle Michael:

I find no evidence that they released *anything* before 1971.
  11:42am Dean:

I'm not confident that Wikietc. is correct. Discogs shows undated 45s on Platinum of "Treat Her Like a Lady," nothing for "Too Late..." Moreover, this story reports that THLAL was released in 1971. Nothing about TLTTBN.
