	10:39pm Franco Twinkie: Chresti lived on Edgecliff before we got together. She also lived on Fargo and Echo Park, The steepest street in L.A. One Easter I stopped at her house before I went over to my folks. I had a pie in the car that was cobbler after I got to the bottom of the hill.

	11:41pm Dean: San Francisco has always struck me as a bullshit town. The exceptions -- City Lights, maybe a restaurant or two, William Stout's amazing architecture bookstore -- prove the rule. I've lived a half hour away now for going on twenty years. I almost never go there, and when I do it's not because I want to.
	11:42pm Dean: But then Chicago bores me to tears, and Manhattan is at best quaint.

	11:48pm Dean: Yeah, that's me, but it's also this independent guy who entirely agrees with me. LA punks, in my experience, were not at all snooty. That's what I loved about the scene. Anybody ... including me! -- could be part of it, because "being part of" was acknowledged as bogus from the get-go.
	11:48pm coelacanth∅: for the record, chicago didn't impress me either. by that i mean it was a disappointment, as i was looking forward to it. lots and lots of "yuppies" jogging and rollerblading and clogging up the sidewalks near the trendy coffeeshops; and extremely unfriendly drivers, very impatient with someone who had tags from 1000 miles away who clearly was unfamiliar, just looking for a place to park mid-morning on a sunday -before giving up and driving toward pa.
