Good Hello Everyone. Please mind the noise!!

what noise?
Avatar 6:07pm
Mr Fab:

i usually have little use for 'talk radio,' but your yappin' shows are actually quite swell. But anyway, back to the tunes, eh? Less talk, more schlock!

I call scratchy records 'well-loved'.

Oh man. This is nuts, Don-O!

Just in case you're curious...yes, THAT Ralph Steadman!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:12pm
Rich in Washington:

I need these sea chanty albums. They're incredible.
Avatar 6:14pm
Mr Fab:

I picked up a 99cent CD recently that had a vocal by Raymond Pettibon. As singing artist go, Steadman is much better!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm
Rich in Washington:

This is a great track! This could be someone's intro theme music!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh wow, Mr. Fab! What was it?
Avatar 6:21pm
Don-O:

Raymond Pettibon?
Avatar 6:22pm
Don-O:

The artist who did those flyers in the early 80's?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm
Rich in Washington:

Raymond's more famous for his flyers and now highbrow art, but he's also the brother of Black Flag founder Greg Ginn. In fact, Raymond was in the first lineup of Black Flag, when it was known as Panic.

Martinibomb:

Hi Don-O just pooping in to say hello
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm
Rich in Washington:

The feuding between Pettibon and his brother is sometimes amusing on Twitter.

I just thought this was someone's rather lackluster mashup, but it's an official 'product'. No thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm
Otis Fodder:

That Queen mashup was painful. Was just coming out of the shower hearing that, thankfully did not slip and fall to run to turn down the volume. Okay, off to get ready, cutting out to go out... as per the past few weeks will catch up post-shows. Have a good one Don & Rich!
Avatar 6:30pm
Mr Fab:

The album with Pettibon is by Unknown Instructors, an SST Records all-star kinda group. Only it's not on SST. Came out a decade ago or so.
Avatar 6:30pm
Don-O:

It was a bit of a risk to play ANYTHING by Queens now as those fuckers are in 1 of every 2 commercials on TV and radio. Consider this a hick-up.....moving on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm
Otis Fodder:

Pizzicato 5 = (always) saving the day post-mashup.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm
Rich in Washington:

I have that somewhat SST-related Mike Watt all-star effort Ball Hog or Tugboat and I have yet to spin it. Not sure why I bought it. Maybe it was .99 cents, too?
Avatar 6:32pm
Don-O:

What was that SST Radio compilation CD set?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm
Rich in Washington:

There's no shortage of ex-SST people willing to put out records on any label BUT SST.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh man. I loved Telephone Man. I couldn't believe it was a real song. I remember hearing it often on the awful AM station my mom used to listen to when I was really young.

Quintron = Quality
Avatar 6:34pm
Mr Fab:

re Pizzicato 5, Martinibomb was playing a lot of this kinda '90s electro-lounge on his most recent show. Time for the Lounge Revival-Revivial!
Avatar 6:35pm
Don-O:

Yea, outside of the whole U2/Negativland shitstorm, SST really stank things up for almost everybody else.
Avatar 6:36pm
Don-O:

Mr. Fan: OH! Combustible Edison Returns! Tribute band?
Avatar 6:37pm
Mr Fab:

Quintron had an installation outside of the Museum of Modern Art, downtown LA recently - an analog synth that took weather info from wind vanes, thermometers, etc, and translated it into drone music. I work across the street from MOCA, so I'd go over on my lunch break and drone out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm
Rich in Washington:

I actually liked the mid-80s roster of SST, but I think when they got kind of big, they started screwing artists out of their back catalog and it got nastier when bigger labels tried buying artists off of smaller labels. SST just tried to cash in.

Martinibomb:

Yep played something from the thing Konishi did right after P5 broke up in 2000
Avatar 6:41pm
Don-O:

I remember in past New Orleans visits, Quintron & Pussycat use to have shows of Cox Cable community channel. They even did a X-mas poppet special. You can find that on YouTube.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm
Rich in Washington:

Don-O, we should do a coordinated 'all crank call' set of shows sometime.
Avatar 6:41pm
Mr Fab:

that's it, grantbob!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm
Webhamster Henry:

"Did you see ARTHUR II?" Andy Breckman wrote it.
  6:42pm
Martinibomb:

Are there any new crank callers? seems like that kinda died out
Avatar 6:42pm
Mr Fab:

We should make some!
Avatar 6:42pm
Don-O:

Mr. Fab: I am SO tempted to do a all-crank show!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm
Webhamster Henry:

I did a parody of P5's This Year's Girl for Dorian when she had her show, but we never got around to recording it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm
Rich in Washington:

Caller ID killed the crank call star
  6:43pm

I did not realize Andy wrote Arthur II wow!
Avatar 6:43pm
Don-O:

BABA-BOEY!....well, something better than that....and if you don't get arrested by the FCC and ICE
  6:44pm
Martinibomb:

@WebHenry Oh mannn! wish you'd recorded it -- way to torture me hah totally want to hear it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm
Webhamster Henry:

@rich depends on the crank. I get plenty of robocalls.
Avatar 6:45pm
Mr Fab:

We'd have to call a public business - those guys HAVE to answer the phone. Like what those guys on the Christopher Cross thing.
  6:45pm
Martinibomb:

Is there a way to turn robocalls into something funny/art?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm
Rich in Washington:

I keep wanting to play the Kathy McGinty tapes but they're really, really on the edge.
  6:46pm
Martinibomb:

I think it's easy to setup a robocall maybe we should do one for sheena's see if we can get some angry listeners hah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm
Webhamster Henry:

I suggested to Ken that there be an Andy Film fest at Monty Hall.
Avatar 6:47pm
Don-O:

Fab: I might as well e-mail you my prank call stash list and compare it to yous and see what happens from there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm

Thanks for a great show, Don-O!

Go, Man, GO!
Avatar 6:49pm
Mr Fab:

I remember listening to a teach-your-parakeet-to-talk album, and wanting to set up a phone sex line that would play recordings from the album. Guys would hear a monotonous voice repeating things like, "Hey baby-bee, give, me, a kiss" over and over. Would be funny to hear the callers attempt to talk back. But I don't know if anyone uses phone sex lines anymore?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm
Webhamster Henry:

The flip side of one of my favorite comedy LPs, A DOUBLE BARREL BLAST is a crank call to a funeral home. Since it was a Cook record, you can get a dub from Smithsonian Folkways.
Avatar 6:50pm
Mr Fab:

Don-O, 'twas Rich who said he had the crank-call archives.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm
Webhamster Henry:

I actually used the parakeet record as my answering machine outgoing message once.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm
Rich in Washington:

I have a bunch. Just by default. Not something I collect, per se.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm
Rich in Washington:

I used to use Brian O'Blivion's monologue from Videodrome for my outgoing message for years until I got married again and my wife wasn't down with it. Not even a bit.
Avatar 6:53pm
Don-O:

Alright then, I'll torture Rich with this prank-call idea then. I was dancin' between web pages to notice the chatting. Sorry for the confusion.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm
Webhamster Henry:

Here are a bunch of my outgoing messages for you (pl.) to enjoy in your spare time. Don't call the number I mention (or sing)!

I used to have part of this vocal track sans music from some collection of samples my brother gave me. Wonder how he got it. It was on a bunch of discs I got with a sampler I bought off him.

This is another awesome album. (if you know your chicken)
Avatar 6:56pm
Don-O:

Tick, tock, tick, tock. Sounds like that Watchmen promo HBO released.
Avatar 6:57pm
Don-O:

I just got the complete ChickenMan CD box set for 6 bucks at the local Goodwill. (but those fuckers didn't have senior discount today)
Avatar 6:58pm
Mr Fab:

Webhamster henry: "I produced my own phone machine messages on my 4-track for about 10 years, and I also used my NeXT to help edit up the sounds " - Wow, impressed! Will have to listen to those.
Avatar 6:59pm
Don-O:

WOW, indeed!
Avatar 7:00pm
Mr Fab:

hey, hope to hear some o' dem ChickenMan episodes on a future Hour of Crap (hint, hint?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00pm
Webhamster Henry:

I wish there were a digital way to transfer greetings to my VOIP and phone greeting, but I make do analog to analog.
