Michael, I desperately wanted to start the show with a cactus-related theme, but all I could think of was "Cactus Cat" by Look Blue Go Purple, and I just played it a few weeks ago.

Text is good, too. Kind of a lost/unacknowledged time and, certainly, place.

That warms the cockles of my cold dead heart, Carmichael. THANK YOU

Boy, do I have some Jimmy Smith stories, all good. He lived out here, down the road from me, for a decade or so.

I'm drawn in general to documentation of late '60s/early '70s communal and back-to-nature counter-culture

Wow, Carmichael. I think I remember you mentioning JS during some other recent show. Irwin, maybe? Gaylord, perhaps.

Gonna go a minute or two into overtime

Carmichael:

Yeah, someone recently played him. He was a stellar citizen and generally great person. I want to be like him, but I’m too suspicious of everyone’s agenda. He was very open hearted.

Dean:

Same here re: Jimmy Smith. Caught him a few times. He had a cranky sense of humor I enjoyed. Once told me to slow down with the martinis. I'd had two, as in two drink minimum.

Chresti just handed me a burnt broccoli floret she found on the stove. It smelled real good, like freshly roasted coffee. With that unrelated bit of nonsense I will say good night. This show was a monster!
