time will tell...but i have heard a few tracks and liked them all. certainly more "produced" than the early stuff, but not as bland as some of the later first era material.

I played it more as a tribute to guitarist Ariel Bender, whose out there with Hunter and Morgan Fisher doing the final MTH tour. Glad they're out there doing it, but I couldn't see forking over 150 bucks for something I actually saw in 74 and paid no more than 10.

your REO speedwagon reference made me LOL so hard, they used to come to our little cow poke town for the fair when I was kid. My friend used to call them Sorry Old Speedwagon. ;D
Avatar 2:06am

Verden wasn't asked back. It think he wanted to reprise the 74 band - or who is left from it
Avatar 2:10am
Bill Mac:

@Lost Cause It's true! it would be suck a buzzkill The bill woould be AC/DC, UFO and .... REO Spuddarngon! I would have much preferred someone better, like Molly Hatchet.

Just checked out a clip of the Mott '74. Sometimes the legends are better left as legends but they seem to be having a genuinely good time. Seems like it would be a fun show. Nostalgia seems to be at the fore for sure.

REO was the go to fill in band.

Oh well, I'll kind of miss them. My favorite video of them that I caught was a small after party where they were eating cake. Never saw Ian eat anything before, much less cake. it was revelation

Oh, and speaking of shows, my daughter and I are going to see M. Moctar I think next weekend. Pretty excited about it.

Bill, did you play this song earlier? Or was that Dave Spazz?
Avatar 2:43am
Scraps:

I used to go regularly to Barbés, back to the opening, and Jeffrey Cobb (WFMU dj) was bartending. Somehow Shrimp Boat came up, and I enthused. Jeffrey then introduced me to Steven Joerg, another regular who runs AUM Fidelity, a mostly avant jazz label who WFMU plays many of. Steven told me he really started his label so that he could publish a three (or four) CD collection of Shrimp Boat. He’s the biggest Shrimp Boat fan around, apparently.
