The Sunglows are the type of band the vatos at my high school would blast in the quad at nutrition break, doing sonic battle with the stoners under the patio blasting Ten Years After. Needless to say, they were all totally wrecked by 10a.m.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm
coelacanth∅:

your stoners did ten years after? damn, our stoners did mostly grateful dead.
i like the dead (with some significant reservations, but...) but i would've preferred to hear 10 years after in the smoking lounge.r
Avatar 🥊 Swag For Life Member 10:35pm
Franco Twinkie:

I saw the Dramatics opening for The Ike and Tina Turner Review in 1973. They wore bright yellow tuxedos and had the most amazing dance steps. A great vocal group live. The audience went nuts when they spun around and stamped their feet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36pm
coelacanth∅:

wow bizarre and wonderful cover of a bizarre and wonderful song!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm
coelacanth∅:

Franco i wish i knew then what i know now.
(although i still wouldn't have gone to see the dramatics in 1973 -being barely more than a zygote at the time)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm
TheNewLexGofer:

I'd love to change the world... but the Sunglows rule!
Avatar 🥊 Swag For Life Member 10:39pm
Franco Twinkie:

Coel, their were only a few dead heads in my high school, me been one of them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm
coelacanth∅:

our school was choc full of 'em. people sometimes played their funkboxes in the smoking lounge (outside)
getting stoned there one day while cutting a class turned me around on them.
a really slow version of tennessee jed and this blazed floyd head started grooving.
Avatar 🥊 Swag For Life Member 10:46pm
Franco Twinkie:

What years were you in high school? I was 1970-73.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm
coelacanth∅:

were(/are) you a vato?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm
coelacanth∅:

graduated in 1980
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm
coelacanth∅:

(hopefully that question's not offensive! you know i don't mean any)
Avatar 🥊 Swag For Life Member 10:53pm
Franco Twinkie:

No. I would sometimes get shit from the vatos. Nothing serious, just Hey Surfer blah blah. Even though I wasn't a surfer. It was just the way I looked that bugged some of them.Torn levis and striped shirts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm
coelacanth∅:

i was picked on up until jr high school. then i got accepted by the popular kids but never close!
i guess it was my appearance as well that bugged them. thrift store fashion.
Avatar 🥊 Swag For Life Member 11:03pm

@Franco: growing up in a Southern suburb, we only had one student of Mexican decent, and he hung out w/ my punk rock friends. Heck, we only had one Jewish student, and our HS had 3000 students (typical Southern demographics).
