	10:35pm Franco Twinkie: When ever I go see my accountant (like I am preparing to do,as we speak) I try and squeeze in a visit to Lovells. Of course, most stuff is researched and priced accordingly, but for some reason they're a bit sloppy with the sound tracks and older brit pop.

	10:45pm Funky16Corners: @NGH - My friends and I were DEEP into the 60s sounds from the UK and the garage sounds from the US. Piper at the Gates of Dawn was the musical equivalent of 'required reading'
	10:48pm Funky16Corners: I forot a crucial part of that story. While we kept replaying Astronomy Domine, my brother sat under a blanket with his 12-string guitar, "tuning" the strings until most of them broke.

	10:52pm BrassKnuckles: That's hilarious. Why did he feel the need to tune the strings beyond use? Did he have dog like hearing?

	10:54pm Franco Twinkie: Hanging around with people who are tripping if you're not can be a little exasperating. One night sitting by the swimming pool with a couple of friends who were blazing, I had to listen to the deep revelation about a gum wrapper that was really a miniature pair of pants.

	10:59pm Funky16Corners: Oh boy, do I have stories. One time, a bunch of us trekked out to Long Island to see some bands and go to a house party. We get to the house and it bears little sign of habitation, save a huge marijuana plant in the foyer. Everyone dropped acid, and I got to watch the singer of one of the bigger NYC garage bands (who is sadly no longer with us) pass out on the floor, while a bunch of mod girls decided that they were going to try to paint his hair white so he'd look like Andy Warhol.

	11:14pm Franco Twinkie: I have to tell you, it was funny. a couple of teenagers from Califoriy in hillybilly land. When we rolled into St. Louis about six in the morning, the first thing we see on the side of the road is a newspaper box with the headline - Nixon Resigns!
	11:15pm coelacanth∅: i have a nice pair. i didn't even know what i was buying -didn't know any of pink floyd's history; but i knew i liked them and it was affordable. it's still in good shape.

	11:22pm Funky16Corners: Yeah, this was a big album for me when it came out. I used to pester the DJs at the local alternative station to play it all the time.

	11:31pm Matt from New Orleans: Moby played a show at Columbia right before Play came out in the spring of 99. He played a bunch of songs off play that no one knew and got pissed that the crowd disengaged.

Kind of like when Chresti found WFMU just about a year ago. At this late date, it's all new again.Who the hell cares what the kids listen to.

	11:58pm northguineahills: I pretty much stopped listening to the radio when I started college and the college station was sold to Clear Channel and the decent indie commercialish station that could be picked up became 'hard rock'. Then, in 1998, I was able to pick up WFMU online (w/ crappy sound quality).

	11:59pm coelacanth∅: wpix-fm was excellent for a burst of time, c.1978-1980. i'd already discovered wfmu by then but had yet to hear "rock", "punk", etc. on it -and that (and blues, etc.....) was still very much what i wanted to hear. wpix aired lots of live music, punk, stooges, velvets, lots of "underground" stuff from everywhere. one morning, getting ready for school, i turned it on and it was "love songs. nothing, but love songs" ...they probably got shut down for making fun of that scumbag christopher columbus!

We get to the house and it bears little sign of habitation, save a huge marijuana plant in the foyer. Everyone dropped acid, and I got to watch the singer of one of the bigger NYC garage bands (who is sadly no longer with us) pass out on the floor, while a bunch of mod girls decided that they were going to try to paint his hair white so he'd look like Andy Warhol.

	11:58pm northguineahills: I pretty much stopped listening to the radio when I started college and the college station was sold to Clear Channel and the decent indie commercialish station that could be picked up became 'hard rock'. Then, in 1998, I was able to pick up WFMU online (w/ crappy sound quality).

	11:59pm coelacanth∅: wpix-fm was excellent for a burst of time, c.1978-1980. i'd already discovered wfmu by then but had yet to hear "rock", "punk", etc. on it -and that (and blues, etc.....) was still very much what i wanted to hear. wpix aired lots of live music, punk, stooges, velvets, lots of "underground" stuff from everywhere. one morning, getting ready for school, i turned it on and it was "love songs. nothing, but love songs" ...they probably got shut down for making fun of that scumbag christopher columbus!
