April 2, 2019: Andre Previn RIP
The RIPs keep coming. Morricone Island pays belated tribute to jazz and classical pianist, conductor and composer Andre Previn who died in Manhattan on February 28th at 89. Previn started his career in LA in 1946 as an arranger, conductor and composer for MGM while still in high school, eventually composing over 50 films before turning his nose to the world of film scoring after 1975's "Rollerball." However, his work on "Valley of the Dolls" never allowed him to shake his Hollywood past.

@ Linda Lee -- right? re: Theme from The Valley of The Dolls -- still remains soooooo evocative of feeling lost, lonesome, etc. . . . when i finally saw the film, it was just so PERFECT for the story . . . (my Mom had the book too! but, i was not "allowed" to read that either until i was "older," hah! gotta dig that out too and read it again :) )
