Hello Boss. Decorating time, snow falling but melting on impact. Roxy Gordon in the machine. IT'S FRIDAY.

Roxy Gordon makes me melt on impact. Good day, Brother Brian!
Avatar 8:31am ausmanx:

we go on winter time this weekend, so i get two hours of live doug to keep me warm through the colder months. good evening doug and brian et al
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:41am Doug Schulkind:

Two hours of live Doug are preferable to the alternative.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:42am Uncle Michael:

That drummer is slap-happy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46am Doug Schulkind:

Ironically, Uncle Michael, not slap-stick.
Avatar 8:51am ausmanx:

yes, but the alternative is archive doug which is not so bad...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52am Doug Schulkind:

The opposite of live Doug, mathematically speaking, is evil Doug. Those are the rules.
Avatar 8:58am ausmanx:

evil doug is merely a theoretical possibility, impossible to manifest in the real world. i'm sure jessie would agree

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42am Doug Schulkind:

In my ear, I've always associated Mike Osborne's sax sound with that of Jackie McLean, but with jagged edges. LOVE it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45am Doug Schulkind:

Anthony Braxton is playing a contrabass saxophone here.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:46am doctorjazz:

I've read somewhere that edge was because Mclean played slightly sharp, which is my sense of it as well.
Avatar 🥁 10:47am βrian:

Who's playing bass office chair?
  10:48am Listener Gregory:

The bass saxophone is so hackneyed, right? If you don't go at least to the contra-bass, you're really just like Kenny G.

@doctorjazz, that makes a lot of sense.

Considering any part of any composition can be incorporated into many other newer compositions, some and the performers choice, it's hard to keep track. Also, read Graham Locke's account of the classic quartet touring in the 80s, definitely mandatory.

Speaking of kumbaya, the song of that name was credited to a German-American composer for many years. Now they have found essentially the same song recorded in 1926 by Gullah speakers in Georgia, long before the song was "written" and copyrighted. Probably everyone knows this, but I just read it.
