Hello and welcome everyone! Let's call this show a pomegranate; it's kind of a pain in the ass and leaves stones in your teeth, but it's delicious in tiny nuggets, if you put in the work

A portrait of my maternal grandfather hangs at the National Cowboy Museum in Oklahoma city. He was a regionally-known horse trader in the '20s & '30s. I need to go there some time to see it.

Oklahoma has a great band (Debris'), and I hear the NWS weather station there is pretty amazing. Oh, and S.E. Hinton. What else?
  3:34pm

On lunch break, sounds good, wish I could listen while in the courtroom. Is there a WFMU chip to plant in my ears for inconspicuous listening?

@scott there is a station from Oklahoma City called the Katt which is a very good station

@chresti, you got jury duty? I have it next week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm
mcgreivey:

Flowers of Romance is one of my fave records. I used to take my FoR cassette with me to electronics stores to test stereo equipment and to test the annoying salesmen. Yes, I was young and subversive. I would have taken my Flipper records with me, too, but I didn't have them on cassette. But they wouldn't have had the thump factor of FoR, anyway; just the annoyance factor.
Avatar 3:45pm

It takes 41 hour of driving to go from Ridgecrest CA, to Atlantic City, NJ. Several of those hours go to Oklahoma.

@Scott, Russian schlager reminds me--I've been meaning to convey to you the Russian-language version of "Blue Moon": Луна. Or maybe i should make that Луна́, to distinguish its pronunciation from that of the band Luna.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm

Just looked for that old Russian Blue Moon on YouTube, and it's not there (no surprise), but I found another Russian version which is further evidence that Russians can't swing (at least not musically). Search for "Луна / Blue Moon" by Blackberry Jam. The female singer swings a liiiittle, but the band swings pretty much just like a dead dog rolling down the stairs.
