My favorite Genesis album remains SEBTP. Song-wise, I still love "Twilight Alehouse," which is, I believe, contemporary with Trespass.

Used to spin that Osanna album quite a bit, and the Sensations Fix, and various Ashra and Harmonia records.
  1:06am
Dean:

Krautrock is not *not* progressive rock. Geez, labels.

Play beer checkers. It’s just like regular checkers, but whenever someone gets “Kinged” they drink a beer.
  1:16am
Jeff Conklin:

Terrapin Station is progressive krautrock tho
  1:18am
Dean:

As a matter of fact, there is a stale box of donuts just inches from where I type!

Really, I'm not interested in the classification of genres. However, in my experience at the time (from c.'72), we had no reason to distinguish in terms of genre SF from, say, Guru Guru or Kraan or Jane or Release Music Orchestra or Grobschnitt or (and here's where it gets weird) Epitaph.

The term "Krautrock" has become, I think, a very recent way to focus on, e.g., Neu, Harmonia, Cluster, when in fact they weren't producing work designed to support that distinction.
  1:19am
Jeff Conklin:

I hear you dean. Just busting balls. Epitaph and Can don’t belong in the same room. Man I can’t get into Grobschnitt
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20am
Franco Twinkie:

The moon situation has improved over my house. The only clouds now are a translucent glowing moisture glob around the moon itself. Half eclipsed.
  1:20am
Dean:

I agree two thousand percent about Terrapin Station being the whole mess whisked together.

Early Grobschnitt. Give it a good listen.
Avatar 1:21am

Terrapin Station is at least prog imo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24am

Bob can really be a mood spoiler sometimes.
  1:24am
Johnzon:

the translucent glowing moisture globs are my favorite kraut-prog band
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24am
brycepunk1:

Ugh... defining genre is like defining race: eventually, when you get down to the DNA of the individual (song/person) it's just an individual. No specific definition holds up under scrutiny... perfect circle and all that..

JakeGould:

Outside of Geddy Lee, there are few women in prog.

My sense is that Bob has a charisma over which he has little control, while Jerry's charisma is immaculate. So, from time to time Bob gives the impression that he's working, where Jerry simply moves along to the next passage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31am
