Ooh, I knew those notes from the Shutov Assembly the instant they started. I used to play this album in the dark a lot back in the early 90s and then usually fall asleep and have some cool dreams too.

Thanks carol I have been going more and more to non commercial radio, more freedom
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22am

I'm taking part in a month-long media survey where I have to log what I listen to or watch. Which boils down to when I'm listening to WFMU (not a choice in the original list, but I could add it)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22am
CarolCrow:

@David@6:18: Why, that is very kind of you to say:) Happy to have you aboard:)
  6:27am

whatup carol, carolers
  6:29am
John:

Fred add it, they might wonder what kind of station it is
  6:30am
David in London:

Rarely can the phrase “I’m also a nurse “ have provoked such fear.
  6:32am
David in London:

@fred - my survey would look exactly the same these days. I’ve largely turned off the BBC now and it’s FMU all the way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32am
fred:

@John: I did, and that was part of my thinking (I don't think any human will ever see it, but a small sample size may have my listening get inflated to a report of a million WFMU listeners in France)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34am

@sean@6:27: Haha! Thanks for being with us:)

Good morning, Sem!
  6:42am
David in London:

@john, not completely, you’re right. There are still good things like the Ig and The Freak Zone on 6Music (and football at the weekend), but I used to listen to a lot of the BBC version of what I think in America would be called ‘talk radio’, eg Radio 4, and I’ve more or less given that up for FMU completely now.
  6:43am
John:

Gave have really listened since Simon left PM
  6:44am

Avatar 7:03am
ben abs:

@David, also gave up on the beeb a few yrs ago, 6music was just recycling the same old playlists and became boring and predictable. It was a good gateway station though, and Sunday service was fantastic for the first couple of yrs. Now I'm almost exclusively FMU with the odd dip into NTS (once a month maybe for an hour or so)
  7:05am
David in London:

First Reformed was a massive return to form by Schrader I thought. Just don’t mention the, ahem, unorthodox surplice...eek.
  7:05am
John:

@ben what does NTS stand for
Avatar 7:07am
ben abs:

@John - NTS is a London based internet radio station
  7:08am
John:

Gotcha Ben thanks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12am
CarolCrow:

Hey there, ignatatus! Hello ben:) Welcome!
  7:15am
John:

@ben just downloaded it on my phone will check it later
  7:17am
David in London:

@ben abs - agreed. With the exception of The Freak Zone, which is consistently good. Years back I used to have a problem with Stuart Maconie when he just seemed to be a snarky talking head on ‘I love the 70s’ type shows, but he’s really great on that. What I love about FMU is the plurality, every show seems utterly it’s own thing. I don’t think my bank manager appreciates it as much, though, given how much it makes me purchase as a result...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18am

I like this Timothy North track (and I also enjoyed the segue from Kaleema, if that makes sense)

WFMU has made my life richer, but certainly not in a financial way. A depleted bank account and a smile on your face are known side-effects of listening to this station
  7:31am

And a selection of FMU t-shirts for all occasions.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39am

@David: and FMU T-shirts mean sometimes people from the band you're going to see come up to talk to you (seriously, it happens, weirdest was Mission of Burma, in a street, not even in the venue)
