Also in my record store days, whenever someone would proclaim that they never "got" the Beatles (which was fairly often), my standard response was: If you want to understand why they were huge then, watch A Hard Day's Night. If you want to understand why they're huge now, listen to The White Album.

The idea of a double album may not be the Beatles greatest legacy. Saying that most CDs are double album length nowadays. 44' 53" is long enough for most listeners.

Yeah, The Beatles released some crappy songs! However, I heard they practiced 8 hours a day, so they could do anything they want well, even if it sucked. Except Revolution #9. It just sucks IMHO.
By the way, anybody claiming "They don't get The Beatles" is just being a contrarian to stir up sometihing, it is self evident that the Beatles and The Stones were objectively good. Its like saying "The Carpenters were shitty musicians" when obviously they were not. You might not like them, but they were not objectively bad.

"Rocky Raccoon" was another one of those songs that late-60s TV variety show producers adored, because it was a top 40 song that worked for mom-and-dad performers.
