Good afternoon David, Ruth, and listeners

As fred has said.

I missed last week's show: I was at a performance of Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker's Fase (music: Piano Phase / Come Out / Violin Phase / Clapping Music)

Greetings Fred, hey Sem. Fred never misses an Anna Teresa show barring apocalyptic conditions!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm
steveo:

Hello! Photo is an RR original?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm
fred:

That's the truth. Not sure about that apocalyptic thing though. I'd sure want to be at such a show in these conditions

Heavens no steveo. I steal everything. Lawyers cover your ears (eyes).

ok whew

Very excited to be doing the five o'clock tango with you, Prof. Weinstein!

david w:

Yes, Dr. D! An honor, and a classic Drummer mind-scrambler!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm
fred:

Doug! How do you fill your days now that you no longer have classes to sleep in?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm
Doug Schulkind:

@fred
I am waiting for my new job to start. When that will be, I can't say exactly. Hopefully by 1 November.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm
fred:

@Doug: Will that make you give up your regular show?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm
Doug Schulkind:

@fred
I absolutely will not give up my show. I will attempt to negotiate a flexible schedule that will keep me in my current time slot. If that is not viable, I will either move to later on Fridays (following Hinky Dinky Time) or, if I have to, sometime on the weekend. But the show will for sure continue.

Drummers are also jugglers.
Avatar 3:29pm
glenn:

that probably explains all the drummers with gaping drumstick shaped head wounds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm
fred:

@Doug: Glad to hear you'll be around. But please don't use eminent domain to move Mayuko out of my listening hours
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:35pm

Yay, Doug! and oy, glenn.

Crunchy! Squeaky! :)

and hello!

I don't think there is one sound that repeats or recurs in the whole 38 minutes. Hey, geez!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm
fred:

Stefania Pedretti (from Ovo) had a project where she would cut up vegetables and cook, with contact mics all over the place, then share the result with an audience member
Avatar 3:48pm

This is one of those pieces that would work as cartoon scores.
Good cartoons!
Avatar 3:52pm
geezerette:

Fred, you made me hungry. Or maybe it's the kitchen implements.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:52pm

Cooking food as performance has a long history. One at the old Clocktower Gallery was soup that had audio tape mixed into the pot. The audience did not eat it.

@fred
I would never move anyone out of a slot they are happy with.

david, I was listening to the wave farm stream (or whatever they're called these days) and heard your voice introduce Toshio Kajiwara doing a performance at Roulette in '99.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:00pm
david w:

Yeah, that's a great concert. Roulette has a monthly show on Wave Farm's WGXC that I help with. Good catch!

How nice to hear the considerably younger MattyO!

Oh yeah! I neglected to mention his long career on air at FMU! Hi, Tom!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:22pm

I always thought I preferred esthetics over ethics, because I didn't think the former involved a claim of applying to others. I guess I should find another word

O Superman (the genesis). I found a 7 LP set of Laurie's '79 tour, quite amazing......
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm

@ngh: are you past that nasty health issue yet?
Avatar 4:26pm
geezerette:

David, digging the contextual notes.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:28pm

Well, I've become something of a archivist these last years, but not ready to add doctoring for ngh!
Avatar 4:32pm
northguineahills:

@fred: nope, but I have energy for the first time in .... years(????), right now it's just a major annoyance and not affecting my behavior or sleep as much, but it's healing, just at a glacial pace.
Avatar 4:36pm
geezerette:

NGH, glad it's getting better!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm
fred:

@ngh: not ideal, but I'll take healing at a glacial pace over not healing at all. I hope the healing will speed up
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:52pm

The great and under-recognized Lary 7 could easily have been on this program featuring brilliant and generous inventor/designer/composers, but I'm thinking to do a whole show with 7. In case you were drawing up a list of omissions....

geezerette:

Thanks, David and Ruth!

Sitting quietly in the back taking the whole show in, as usual grateful for the ride. Thank you, DW, team Ridgewood, Ruth, and all. See you next time!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm

@david: I don't know anything about Lary 7. So I'm very much eager to hear this. I'll be away more often, but that sounds like archives I'd want to hear
