Welcome back to the West Coast friendly time!

Ditto...Sorry about the late shift but looking forward to 3 hours.

What happens in Stockholm should stay in Stockholm :-)

Yeah--three hours of undistracted time for deep psychedelic dives, Dead jams, long folk reveries, Garcia Peoples, and whatever else Jeff wants to turn us on to. I'm psyched.

Morning, all. Welcome to a new era....
  12:09am
Agent Peter:

same as the old era?
Avatar 12:10am
Jeff Conklin:

Nope

Jeff! Glad you got the three hours back! Sorry about the less civilized time slot. Looking forward to another season of The Ghetto!

Glad to be here, get it while you can!
  12:21am

Uh oh...were you sending us a message with that first track?
  12:23am
zenkoan:

Rosali sounds like she's channeling Elizabeth Fraser/Cocteau Twins a bit

If I were leaving NY... I'd have Colorado on the list. Other places too but CO would make the short list for sure. Not that I'm leaving NY. I've never even lived in NY. Just a hypothetical.

Man, when Richard Thompson hits it he really hits it.

I've applied to Walmarts in CO, MT, WY and UT

Welcome back to the old time slot Jeff (for now, at least)! Yeah, Colorado is great...have friends in Denver and Boulder. Not sure how hard/easy it is to get work there, though.
  12:37am
rw:

Umbria is beautiful too.

I’m late to the party.
You leaving us, Jeff?

Looking forward to the Träd Gräs och Stenar show next Sunday at Henry Miller Library in Big Sur. I'll have to catch next week's AG on the archives.
  12:55am
rw:

saucerful, my daughter just graduated from CU Boulder. When we went out there to get her set up I thought there was something wrong with the people we were meeting but it turns out they're just way friendlier than people here!

opurt, that sounds like a great place to see a band like TGoS. I'm more than a little jealous.

Your show sustains and nourishes the weasel population. Don't go!

Oh that's cool rw...they might have all been stoned, ha ha. Congratulations on your daughter's graduation!

You know what's awesome? When you dump $180 on a box set and someone handles the discs with radioactive goo that leaves glowing red fingerprints that eat into the plastic
Avatar 1:06am
Jeff Conklin:

@fleep: Unsure if that's accurate but I find it to be a comment in poor taste just the same...
Avatar 1:08am

It's accurate, and you may certainly delete it. What I'm saying is, vacations are one thing, living in a place is another.

There's flat Montana and mountainy Montana. Like two states separated by a common name.

rw, still tickets left for next Sunday (and Friday in San Francisco) - folkyeah.com... Henry Miller Library with 300 or so friends under the redwoods is one of my favorite places to see any band.

If 15 years in NYC never having more than 5 dollars in the bank, no health insurance for the last 10 years, and exponential overcrowding hasnt killed me, no statistic is gonna do it.

Thanks saucerful! She's determined to get a PhD so she's got plenty of school ahead. I'm just hoping she'll be able to get some scholarship funding! (And I feel like she will. She's already been securing grants, etc.)

opurt, that's a long drive from here. Not out of the question but far. They're also playing at Zebulon in Los Angeles. I've been considering that show but I don't think it'll compare to the Henry Miller show.

If you don't do what you want when you want, especially while you're young enough and without traditional restrictions like spouse and kids, then you're finished. Make yourself happy. Ask me how I know this.
  Swag For Life Member 1:19am
opurt:

rw, the drive up route 1 from LA to Big Sur (and back) is incredible (while it is still a haul for you to get to LA). The advantage of the LA show is you get 3 nights of shows.
  1:30am
Adam West Toaster:

I second was sberger said, along with this: Better to try and possibly not succeed, then to not try, and never know if you might have. Plus, I’m an exNY’r who moved to CO. It added 10 years back onto my life.
  1:31am
rw:

opurt, you're messing with me. I'm looking at my calendar as if that drive next weekend is an actual possibility!

And now I've got to check out here and get some work done. Will be listening though.

Thanks somewhat in advance Jeff! Always enjoy the Sunday night Ghetto! Take care all!

I remember you, Jeff on East Village Radio playing stuff like Astro. You still to the harsh stuff?
  2:08am
Rory:

I also remember you on My Castle Of Quiet....
Avatar 2:10am
Jeff Conklin:

@Rory: I'll listen to noise sometimes while commuting on the headphones but don't wish to play it on the radio anymore (except for my tribute to WM last year, of course)
  2:17am
Rory:

I love black metal and harsh noise, but love calmer stuff like this. My brother is a hardcore Dead fan so I grew up on that while listening to Gwar and Slipknot in the early 2000’s haha! Then later I got into the Black, death, grindcore and punk.
  2:22am

My first song that I remember liking was a Butthole Surfers song “Who Was in My Room Last Night.” Always made me laugh when I was a kid. That’s where it all started!

Idaho is like Utah but with coffeeshops open on Sundays, like Colorado but without the traffic, like Wyoming but without Dick Cheney, and like Montana but about 20 degrees warmer in the spring and fall. (Montana is rad though.) But please keep jamming for us wherever you go!
