I was going to write off Emeralds as just another noise/drone band, but then I saw one of their albums is called =Bullshit Boring Drone Band=, and okay, they get a pass.

i'm sorry but it's impossible for me to imagine giving a shit enough about Gene Clark to read more than a standard wikipedia entree.

Fantastic that when I hopped in the shower Meat Puppets was on, then I get to my office and some WSB flexi was playing. Make Radio Strange Again, MRSA, like the skin infection or whatnot.

Checking back in to check out. Thanks Jesse! Night everyone! Have a good week!

PS I can imagine being interested enough to read more than a Wikipedia entry but not several hundred pages. I am glad there are people who DO have that kind of time and interest though.

Wish I had something clever to say, but will let "great show tonight" suffice.

rw (though you're probably not here now) i'm just not that much of a byrds fan; and beyond that see Gene Clark as completely expendable in the band... but maybe his life was interesting for other reasons.

Huh. I’m not much a Byrds fan, but Clark is more interesting to me. Half a dozen lovely songs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39am
jj.:

i mean, i kind of think of gene clark as the best songwriter in the byrds. i love the byrds & all, but his album with the gosdin brothers & the white light demos get way more play in my household than anything by mcguinn, crosby, or even parsons.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52am
coelacanth∅:

ok - i guess... but there's only a handful of Clark byrds songs. they're good pop songs, but... kind of expendable songs, in my opinion, when i compare them to their contemporaries, like what Love was doing then...
...but i'm completely ignorant to his work after the byrds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53am
jj.:

yeah, i'm referring mostly to his solo career outside the byrds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54am
coelacanth∅:

i need to check that out.

i've always loved "...swallows..." -though i've never heard a great version of it. (i know it from the ink spots)
