Hello everyone, Jeff that is so cool that your Dad is a guest on your show tonight!
Avatar 10:03pm
TDK60:

Evenin' DJ JC. Humid, eh? FF cools me down..
Avatar 10:05pm
Adamsworth:

It's humid in Philly too, yesterday the National Weather Service said 100% chance of rain...but today it was 50% and didn't rain really, there was just points where humidity hit 100% and rained from the air.
Avatar 10:06pm
Adamsworth:

I actually think weird weather like that is fun to walk around in, but then it was just hot and gross afterwards...ugh.
  10:07pm
Jeff Conklin:

Evening all. Looks like rain for sure.

Good afternoon/evening!

Avatar 10:11pm
Adamsworth:

I like in the Shakey book how Neil keeps saying like "Stephen Stills is a funky guy, he's got a lot of soul".
  10:13pm
MONEYBAG$:

When I saw Neil Young last week he kept introducing his guitars "this came from Steven Stills", it was a running joke
Avatar 10:16pm
TDK60:

Do Stills and Young get along?
Avatar 10:16pm
Jeff Conklin:

Stills was not on the Bird Song fwiw
  10:17pm

Hello - Listened to WKCR thinking it was the end of Gaylord's show and missed the beginning of yours. Why am I having such an issue with live listening???
  10:18pm
MONEYBAG$:

he was there, in his own way. Jimi too
  10:18pm
MONEYBAG$:

Jim Morrison was not allowed per Jerry
Avatar 10:18pm
Jeff Conklin:

@Lucky: Funny, Gaylord played a Indian Classical sounding thing and WKCR does that Sunday Evenings....
  10:19pm
Agent Peter:

Correct. But his appeerance was the most memorable part of those shows.
Avatar 10:20pm
Jeff Conklin:

Incorrect, the Bird Song, Esau and West LA are far more memorable...
Avatar 10:20pm

I only saw The Gratefuls twice: 1978 and around the same time as the above Meadowland show: Spring '83, in WV.
  10:22pm
mark Flynn:

Always had respect for The Dead and had a revaluation Dead style in an enhanced state listening to a legitimate live recording from 1972 in 1975 on an uninterrupted broadcast at 2am on WBCN in Boston in 1975. It was a singular revaluation. Until hearing this track tonight I’ve had respect but this guitar playing is on par with the Allman Brothers. I’m going to follow up.
Avatar 10:23pm
Adamsworth:

@TDK60 I like the style of calling them The Gratefuls, I think I'll start doing that.
Avatar 10:23pm
Jeff Conklin:

New to the show Mark? If so, welcome, I love to help people reach the Dead...

Massachusetts is "an enhanced state"?

This Ulrich Rois song is amazing! MV vibes..

Again, I'm starting to wonder why the 80's are so maligned. That was a jam for sure.

Speaking of MV, no one should sleep on the 2cd live Wet Tuna set that's probably close to sold out.

The Great Wet Wonder one? I got it from them when I saw them live...so good.
Avatar 10:27pm

Adamsworth: Just to be cantankerous, I do the same with the Stones -I call 'em The Rollings.
  10:28pm
mark Flynn:

How do I find the Ulrich Rios track. I’m googling with no hits.
  10:28pm
MoeLarryAndJesus:

Yeah, that one. Very different from the LP, too.
  10:29pm
Agent Peter:

@Jeff
No problem at all with Brett. Keith had kind of run his course and imo Brett's arrival freshened things up. I think he gets a bad rap when there was stuff going on that had nothing to do with him. Excellent musician who added a lot to the band's history.
Avatar 10:29pm
Adamsworth:

@TDK60, ha ha I will also steal that from you. Though with the Rollings, I usually pronounce them like a Bosnian friend of mine did, she would put the emphasis on "the ROLLingstones"

I love how Starbirthed includes small crystals or incense with their tapes...such a cool style.
Avatar 10:35pm
TDK60:

Mark: Mass. is a fine state. // I usually *have* made more 90 min. mix tapes. But one can tire the listener out if it gets tedious w/too much info. Doing 60s is more concise but tricky too.
Avatar 10:35pm
Jeff Conklin:

@Agent: Well put.

I think 60s are a bit more hi-fi. But I'm not a real audiophile. // Adamsworth: interesting @ Starbirthed. '80s Nebraska new wave dream pop band For Against put a shaft of wheat in their debut LP cover.

Razors and needles and so forth, I know. But do you know how hard it is to clean peanut shell debris off a record so you can play it?

Half heard in my distracted state - Kendra Smith. Can't verify anything..but, on her cd from awhile back she does two songs about the rain. Is it raining somewhere? Not in L.A.!!! Saw her last Christmas with her old band. She was magnificent!
