This show is a great reminder that though I’ve enjoyed listening to ‘deep funk’ 45s for years, I know next to nothing about it. (This stuff never turns up at area shops.) Therefore it’s a treat to hear other people spin these records!!!
This kind of funk 45 is for some reason very hard to find out in the wild...eBay, yes, but shops, rarely. That said...I found this one with you in Milwaukee!!!

The super-heavy funk, bring it.

Whoa, in that case — nice find!

In the event they do turn up locally it’s usually beyond my budget. (Such as the ‘big’ Aalon Butler and New Breed Band 45 turning up recently locally...I at least listened to it on the listening station!)
Fine Wine: remember that time I emailed you and requested to hear Sharon Jones and you thought i was from the label? I just loved Sharon and hearing her here first.

And there’s a new local shop opening ... any day now, I think. Possibly funk 45s to find there.
Very cool! I always wondered about her early stuff. Thx!

Hey, thanks for the early Sharon Jones--miss her most every day! On the subject of "should FineWine incorporate more funk back into the show" well HELL YEAH! Sitting in the Velvetiki Room, eating Chinese spareribs that the wife prepared: there is no more appropriate context for the music you're playing, sir!
