Good call on the Moog Machine, luckily they went with a live drummer on that one. Lots of funky covers, and fairly easy to find out in the field.

I actually have Switched-On Rock on LP.

bits of the Wrecking Crew played on some of those Montenegro pop records, but I wonder who his Moog knob twiddler was?

Expanding, yes! Exactly, Rich - will investigate.

Who were the hot young Moog playing session people c. 1968 or so?
I know Mort Garson played under a few aliases.

The Duane Train is running down the track on fire today!

According to Discogs, the synth players on the Montenegro album were Programmed By [Arp Synthesizers] – John Montenegro (tracks: A2-A5, B2-B5), Programmed By [Moog Synthesizer] – Dick Hamilton (tracks: A1, B1) and Soloist [Featured] – Larry Muhoberac. I'm assuming John is Hugo's son, but I can't be sure.

Jshatan:

I know The Monkees had one of the first Moogs - you can hear it on their track Star Collector, which came out in 67. I may be wrong, but I believe the Beatles may have borrowed a Moog from the Monkees for Abbey Road, where they used three instruments if I recall correctly. George Harrison was apparently the most skilled with the device, having used it for Wonderwall Music.

Sunshine Baby always kills me - what an unbelievable track.

You made me sad, Duane. I miss my Korg Polysix, that I bought in the early '80s. It may be circulating somewhere, still making sounds. I hope. But great sound and the best DIALS. (pre-midi, too)

Rich in Washington:

I had a Moog Liberation, one of those silly keytar type synths. It was really limited and was monophonic, with one kind of ugly sounding polyphonic voice. It was fun to make weird little burbly sounds with, though.

Yellow Power, not to be confused w/ Yello, Yellowman, or the NYC d&b dj/producer, Yellow.
