What do you expect?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03pm fred:

I should be asleep, but this sounds too good
Avatar 5:04pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

It put someone else to sleep uncontrollably after 48 minutes, and then disoriented them back awake.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm fred:

You mean I'm listening to a new show? Suddenly I feel like I should be at a show somewhere
Avatar 5:06pm northguineahills:

blurple, my favorite color!
Avatar 5:07pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

fred, just pretend it's old
Avatar 5:07pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

ngh, just pretend it's gold
  5:08pm possibilitywaves:

Ken!! I was able to listen earlier today! I find it to be a very potent listen, enough i think to last for more than a year into the future, though I will hear more and add to that! I am not sure how to thank you enough, but hopefully this show thanked you for itself: you might have surely been able to experience many of the natures of this collage!
Avatar 5:09pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

possibilitywaves, so glad for your diving into richness and may it overflow into spring cracks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm fred:

I don't have time for that, I'm too busy pretending I'm not as old as I am
Avatar 5:10pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

possibilitywaves: The making and the listening are such different gifts, and I'm only now in the latter
Avatar 5:12pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Bloopy loops from Noel + Nada Surf guitar loops + Jack Kornfield loving kindness + disco Also Sprach Zarathustra
Avatar 5:14pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Nods to Being There (use of disco) & Walter Murch in general (esp. Return to Oz and THX-1138)
Avatar 5:16pm northguineahills:

I'm fine w/ as old as I am, I just don't want to remind my missus (who's 7 years my junior). I still go out, but sleep is but a dream (except weekends).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm fred:

Zarathustra, Nietzsche are making me so sleepy. I'm a Wittgenstein freak
Avatar 5:20pm northguineahills:

I dated a girl once b/c she had a Wittgenstein book on her desk. That was a mistake, but I got to keep the book!
Avatar 5:20pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

What went wrong?
Avatar 5:21pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

omg I love live mixing I just love it
Avatar 5:24pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

What's more important, loving humans or mixing sounds?
Avatar 5:24pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Oh there was a caller right here, but I couldn't get her to agree to be on the air. She had a lot to say about this "CD"
Avatar 5:25pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

She wanted to hear the loving kindness talking better
Avatar 5:27pm northguineahills:

Uhhh, she was a psycho, and cheated on me a few times, and pretty much only used me a presentable bf for her mother. The silver lining is, I was so devastated that I went on to myspace, did a search for Jodorowsky and Deerhoof (I was drunk), and found my now wife. It took two months for her to respond, but a few months after that, I made friends w/ a musician who was touring NYC (Antigua Automatico Mexicano) who lived in her city (Monterrey, Mexico), and hooked me and my dj partner up w/ gigs there. The rest is history.
Avatar 5:28pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Hooray for what we learn from psychos
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm fred:

Which book was that?
Avatar 5:32pm northguineahills:

@fred: "Philosophical Investigations"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm fred:

Now's when I have to turn the volume super low, which is annoying (the high school/college REM trip is too)
Avatar 5:32pm northguineahills:

I actually love both the Tape Beatles & REM.
Avatar 5:33pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I always hated this song but I like it with isolation
Avatar 5:34pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Epic: R.E.M. guitar + Led Zeppelin vocals + meditation guru
Avatar 5:35pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Sorry fred
Avatar 5:36pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I love R.E.M., but have lower tolerance as their years went later
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm fred:

@ngh: PI is really good, mind-blowing if you add the cut/paste side. What would that have that guy done with our tech? I once met a couple of girls because I was reading the Tractatus.
Avatar 5:39pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Hello, DeemerDave!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm fred:

@Kenzo: I like early REM, but my resentment for the later stuff tends to creep earlier. That's my problem, not REM's
Avatar 5:42pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I'm irritated a little at Document, more at Green, and then I just fall
Avatar 5:42pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

But this year I've been giving later stuff a chance, especially after that transitional period in the 90's passes
Avatar 5:46pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I sneeze
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm Rand al'Thor:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm Rand al'Thor:

Hello, all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm fred:

Document is weird for me. Nobody else in my high school had that record, so that marked me as a weirdo, but also got me some respect. New Order worked too. I guess that set me on the path to WFMU, but those early steps are embarrassing
Avatar 5:51pm northguineahills:

Considering I didn't listen to REM until the 90s, and only found their early work a few years later.
Avatar 5:51pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

But here embarassment amplifies
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm fred:

Sure, but I don't care anymore. For instance, I like Dolly Parton, and I don't care how much shade I get from that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:01pm fred:

Dust To Digital looks to have pretty great releases coming up next month
Avatar 6:01pm northguineahills:

I love Dolly. I got to shake her hand when I was 17 (marched in a parade at Dollywood w/ my HS marching band). She was charming AF!
Avatar 6:03pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Dolly Parton turns out to be the unifying link?

@Kenzo: did you think you were in control of that thing?
Avatar 6:07pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Time? Eating?
  6:08pm Ian!:

@5.:51 - you have an embarrassment amplifier? AC or battery?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm Rich in Washington:

I'm here to listen...
Avatar 6:09pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Rich, you've missed an endless sea of Walter Murch pontifications
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm fred:

I'll grant both: this show is good at time eating
Avatar 6:09pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Embarassment pre-amp
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Rich in Washington:

I've been listening, but too busy/lazy to type anything until now.
Avatar 6:10pm northguineahills:

Hola ¡Ian!
  6:10pm Ian!:

Multiply by two and convert to the next higher unit. If you think "two hours", bill for "four days".
Avatar 6:11pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

If you think, "within budget," declare "bankruptsy"
  6:11pm Ian!:

Radio Silents, the plural of Radio Silent.
  6:13pm Ian!:

I am not an audients. There is only one of me. I am an audient. Hear me.
  6:14pm possibilitywaves:

The feedback sound that happened a few times, felt to me to be the sound of the human spirit waking up and filling with the opposite of embarrassment, an eyes glowing at night type of certainty and fullness!
Avatar 6:14pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Ian!s
Avatar 6:15pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Avatar 6:15pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Too big a portal to record
Avatar 6:15pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Phone phreaking
  6:15pm Ian!:

I'm also half deaf. I only need a headphone. Just one.
Avatar 6:16pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

But you have a lot of heads

I'm half deaf in my left ear (born like that, and ruptured my tympanic membrane as a kid), but oddly enough, it's the best ear for detecting perfect pitch. Of course, now days, my tinnitus creeps on me anyways.
  6:22pm possibilitywaves:

I was in the hospital for a month after being born so i think i connect with that type of basic soundwave in a specific way! I am not certain what was there, but there must have been some sound-producing devices around.
Avatar 6:23pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Mmm pw interesting theory, I'll ponder
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm fred:

I almost died before seeing Glenn Branca for the first time: as I got on a train, my sleeve got caught on something. I couldn't get in, the train left the station and I was stuck. I was thrown off on a foot wide stretch between the track and a railing, to screaming bystanders. I took the next train, got to the venue in time for Branca's wall shaking 8th symphony. Still, a close call. On Halloween, to boot
Avatar 6:24pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Clothes are dangerous
  6:25pm Ian!:

It was a very clothes call.
Avatar 6:26pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

OK, this part is giong to be impossible to playlist
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm fred:

I'm half deaf too. My leaf ear is just a placeholder after 6 surgeries. I can't listen to anything on headphones, it'd be a waste of time
Avatar 6:29pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

My right ear hears little. So there it is, it's not Dolly Parton that connects us after all
Avatar 6:29pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

We crave all this extra sound to make up for the half we don't hear
Avatar 6:31pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Some of this show is indirectly about The Conversation
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm fred:

Interesting that the half we don't hear isn't the same
Avatar 6:32pm northguineahills:

20 years, ha! if only!

It's like I'm having the most beautiful dream, and the most terrible nightmare, all at once
Avatar 6:35pm northguineahills:

The Conversation is a great movie!

@fred, since becoming and adult, I thankfully have never had a near death situation via a train, thankfully, but as a kid in Japan, it's a miracle I didn't become pink mist on the tracks multiple times (I'm not the brightest person and lack common sense).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm Rich in Washington:

I watched this recently.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm Rich in Washington:

Rabid, I mean.
Avatar 6:36pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

More Star Trek TNG
Avatar 6:36pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Rabid?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm Rich in Washington:

Oh. I thought that was from Rabid. It seems like Linda Lovelace says nearly exactly the same thing.

I need to get my bike rack to fit on my hatchback so I can get it fixed so I can ride again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm fred:

@ngh: you're a regular listener, so common sense is pink mist. As for being bright, as the Rex saying goes "I'm not a high brow, I'm not a low brow, I'm something new, I'm a no brow"
Avatar 6:45pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Music from Sydney a.k.a. Hard Eight
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm Rich in Washington:

Hard Eight was pretty good. I should watch it again.
