PS I have that Dee Dee Sharp album!

TDK60:

Kenneth Patchen, influence to the Beats. Last night on Larry's Testify show we heard some Bob Dorough and discussed connection to Ferlinghetti, talked @ Snyder, Ginsberg, etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm
Dano59:

I met Bob Dorough once, real nice guy. We also did a lengthy interview before that, for a School House Rock Live! show coming to town (as he did) about 20 yrs ago
Avatar 10:44pm

I actually have "Peng!" signed by Laetitia Sadier. (I was 20, the only autograph I've ever asked for.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm
coelacanth∅:

very nice, stereolab.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm
Little Danny:

Oh shit, hi Kris! Yes, the Koala is quite an underappreciated and ahead-of-its-time LP
Avatar 10:48pm
Kris Holmes:

new to me
Avatar 10:49pm
TDK60:

It was a fine day when a friend turned me onto Stereolab circa '95; the band made me younger in the '90s (I was older); love their early droney stuff like this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm
melinda:

Sounds a bit different from the Stereolab I know but I like it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm

i've been in the kitchen, unpacking groceries and eating and talking and missing so, so much.

me neither. my grandma used to say it, with only a hint of jest.
Avatar 10:56pm
northguineahills:

@melinda: I have Stereolab's whole catalogue. I may have got bit obsessive at some point. Heck, I got coffee w/ Tim, Laetitia, Mary, and Morghane before that same life changing show aforementioned. Also, sitting down w/ them, the first time I tried alcohol. (bartender was pushing negra modelo on me and my friend, and, we went, sure, why not)(my friend was 19 at the time)
Avatar 11:01pm

iconic esther phillips track

Avatar 11:04pm

What a sound! All that depth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm
Little Danny:

Wow, that's awesome NGH! But wait how old were you when you sat down with Stereolab and alcohol? Big day all around
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm
Dano59:

I know a musician who claims on at least 3 occasions of wedding gigs the happy couple requested he play 'Your Cheatin' Heart'
Avatar 11:06pm
Kris Holmes:

Ha. Yep. Lucky I was not the one who played it though
Avatar 11:06pm
TDK60:

Melinda Stereolab 2nd album: "Transient Random-Noise Bursts with Announcements" a fave -loud noisy, drone, a rush!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07pm
Little Danny:

Amazing, Dano59. We could put together hours of inappropriate wedding jams
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07pm
Dano59:

As for my Dorough interview, I did a lot of phoners for my newspaper gig in those days. I'll have to see if the article shows up on the Wayback Machine. I may have the print copy. Bob lived about 2 hours away near the Delaware Water Gap so he drove up cos he wanted to bring his granddaughter to as many shows on the tour as he could.
Avatar 11:07pm

The Flash must of come in....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08pm
Dano59:

I think I have a future show theme -- 'If Loving You is Wrong ...'
Avatar 11:09pm
TDK60:

Little Danny: Yes.. "Now folks, here's that great tune: You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling."
  11:09pm

That was a gift, I favorited it, but it didn’t say Christmas magic t’me at all.
Avatar 11:10pm

@LD: I was 20. I had done other green things, and low pH tabs, and maybe some equis (as said en espanol), but until then, I was anti-alcohol, believe it or not.

Never Heard this Les Baxter album.

@Dano did you hear Gaylord will be interviewing Petula Clark this Sunday?
