@NGH: I once tried to convince a coworker to extrapolate his digital simulating of a tube amp to eleven for Nigel Tufnel day. He was game (the guy ended his PhD defense by playing Iron Maiden with his laptop as an amp) but then we realized 11/11 is a holiday in France (unrelated reason, sadly), so it wasn't worth giving up on a day off

@NGH: also, the initial tries sounded like crap (it was physical modeling, so outside possible range doesn't really work).
I've often been tempted to try to get a visiting researcher to believe we observe Nigel Tufnel day, but I think that would be cruel, with possible bad consequences

From my understanding, Fujian is a more geographical name for the dialect, Hokian was originally a derogatory name adopted by the people later on. They were immigrants in from north of the Yangtze, to the NW in during the mass chaos that led to the Three Kingdoms. They originally made their living in in segregated fishing villages. (sorry, got distracted by work).
