Yeah! Nasro ended up living in SF for a minute in '99-'00. I did a couple other gigs with him after that. Pretty great, but there just wasn't/isn't much of a market for North African performance out there. He eventually moved to Orlando, which I'm sure worked out better for him.

Raz Mesanai once dj'ed a rai set in tonic, I went and recorded about five minutes from the bathroom, due to the great muffled reverb in there, and used the samples for my pan-africain anticolonial interpretation of Pierre Henry's "variations pour une porte et un soupir,"
