Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Ken From Hyde Park:

The "Almost Famous" spot on Wake 'n' Bake this morning was a pretty good one. I didn't guess the artist right away.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm joe:

Billy Corgan should stick to what he does best running the National Wrestling Alliance
Avatar 12:36pm Joe B:

thanks Ken.
  12:41pm Susan C.:

If you haven't already heard it give a listen to Jack Hammer's "Down in the Subway". It will infect you.
  12:41pm johnk77:

james iha rocked hard
when playing live
w/tinted windows
Avatar 12:42pm northguineahills:

@Ken: Unless it's blatantly obvious, I never can get those (or on the off chance I already have the record).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm joe:

The Smashing Pumpkins reunion amuses me. The drummer has been back in the "band" for some years now and the guitar player has collaborated a few times with the "band" since it's "break up". The refuse to work with the bass player sooooooo what is the reunion here? The guitar player came back to the "band" to do a tour that they know he is not going to stay around after? I'm kind of confussed. The only thing that I think diffrent here is that they are going to play older stuff which they refused to do in the past. I mean I don't care and if this gives Smashing Pumpkins something to be happy about that is great but I'm a bit confussed on how this constitues a "reunion".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm joe:

And that is the major draw back this creates less of a chance for a Tinted Windows album
Avatar 12:43pm northguineahills:

I think I guess correctly on three selections that were essentially shots in the dark.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm Matt Clarke:

I used to serve blueberry pancakes to Mr. Iha in the EV
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm joe:

@matt any good horrid stories? Like does he drizzle his pancakes with burbon and smack? :P
Avatar 12:47pm Joe B:

Iha also signed the Sights to whatever label he co-founded in the mid 2000s so major props to him for helping those guys out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm joe:

Hey I'll out myself here I love the first Smashing Pumpkins album and I think James is a great guitar player for that type of dreaming swirling psych stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm Matt Clarke:

@joe: He was always pleasant and used the proper amount of syrup. No straw slurping.
Avatar 12:49pm Carmichael:

I would rather hear a new Tinted Windows album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm joe:

@carmichael I think most of us highly agree with you there.
Avatar 12:49pm Joe B:

maybe with the cash he makes from reunion tour he can finance a new tinted windows album
  12:50pm Keith from Oregon:

Me too, Carmichael!
Avatar 12:51pm Joe B:

love that tinted windows album
Avatar 12:51pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

I'm kinda over Smashing Pumpkins. They were cool in 1994 to me, but they seem dated somehow and not timeless like some of the other music I like. Am I a snob for saying that? They seem kind over-earnest like Rush to me. Maybe I'm a jerk. Sorry, Smashing Pumpkins!
Avatar 12:52pm Joe B:

@joe - greg's dj sets are not to be missed!
Avatar 12:52pm northguineahills:

I prefer Death By Snu Snu.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm joe:

Ill also go out there and say I saw Hanson some years ago when I chaperoned my daughter to Bamboozle tour and let me tell you those guys know what they are doing.
Avatar 12:54pm Joe B:

corgan is a tool but the first two LPs still sound good to me
Avatar 12:54pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

@Joe-getting young girls to love them? Or musically they are very accomplished? Both?!
Avatar 12:54pm V Priceless:

for the record, I was just quoting the liner notes from an Electric Frankenstein record ; )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm joe:

@joe Never been , but I had total intentions of going knowing he would probably not disappoint.
Avatar 12:54pm northguineahills:

Everything from Siamese Dream and before I think is brilliant, and then they sailed into mediocrity w/ an occasional good tune here and there.
Avatar 12:54pm northguineahills:

Joe B jinxed me.
Avatar 12:54pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

@Joe B-Will check out both
1. Why Corgan is a tool.
2. Their first couple albums.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm joe:

@wildneil Both. THis was at least a decade after the whole MMMbop thing. Full horn section back up singers and KILLER pop licks.
  12:55pm JakeGould:

Hey Joe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm joe:

Agreed Corgan should have a Snap On tattoo across his forehead.
  12:57pm johnk77:

everyone in tinted windows
extremely talented and rockin
the only time i saw them
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm joe:

I love the fact that Tinted Windows is what like 3 generations?
Avatar 12:59pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

Billy Corgan was on Infowars. Huh!
Avatar 1:02pm northguineahills:

@Wild Neil: Well, you answered #1.
Avatar 1:04pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

I think Alex Jones should start a Prog-rock band with Robert Fripp, Buckethead and Sting. It would last exactly one album, and three tour dates before it implodes.
Avatar 1:04pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

Oh, and Ted Nugent.
Avatar 1:04pm northguineahills:

Julie played this Juliana Hatfield the other day, she was on cloud nine (a perfect nexus of her interests)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm joe:

Owww Ted Nugent and Robert Fripp togeather I don't think the album would get made and if it did the tour wouldn't make it past the first date.
Avatar 1:05pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

@Joe-it could never work I am sure.
Avatar 1:06pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

Actually, I think Ted would be in awe of Robert.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm joe:

@Wild Neil agreed I get where you were going but I think those two togeather would be even more combustible then any of the other possible combinations.
Avatar 1:07pm Joe B:

NGH Julie was gonna participate in the Olivia/Juliana show but it didn't work out unfortunately
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm joe:

Yeah but Fripp would not suffer Ted very long I think
Avatar 1:07pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

I think Robert Fripp is a little persnickety and kind of a dictator like Neil Young.
Avatar 1:09pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

Hoodoo Gurus-overlooked 80's band from my early 20's overlooked by me, hence clicky clicky!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm joe:

Yeah that's the vibe I get on him as well, but I think he has mellowed with age. I also found out some interesting facts that over the years when certain members of KC were not able to get on with him and decided to leave the band he offered rather then break up what he felt was a good band he would leave and let the band continue. This obviously was never accepted.
Avatar 1:11pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

@Joe-What actually happened with the Lone Rhinoceros Adrian Belew?
Avatar 1:12pm northguineahills:

The last two Sloan albums have finally hit their old form again, there were a few in the 2000s that bored me. Digging this new one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Parq:

Is this Amy song about Leslie West?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm joe:

@Wild Neil you know to their credit I think they have both remained tight lipped on that and my understanding is it comes down to two very intense personalities. My understanding is they have made peace and AB is now an auxiliary member of the band and could appear at any time with them but is not under the pressure of being a full time band member. This make sense as KC's last tour was primarily music from pre AB albums. I would go out on a limb and say that the next tour tends to focus more on the "later" material.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm joe:

@WildNeil I will tell you this I saw my first KC show a few months ago after being a fan for nearly 30 years and if Fripp's ruling with an iron hand is what causes something to sound like that. I'm not going to tell him to stop any time soon.
Avatar 1:16pm Joe B:

i don't know Parq! could be. was one of the few new songs we didn't discuss!
Avatar 1:18pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

@Joe-I still cannot afford KC tickets, but I am glad you got to go. The closest I ever got is I saw the League of Crafty Guitarists back in the 80's. I think it was the 80's. Yeah, they have been VERY quiet about what happened. Glad KC is playing their earlier stuff while they still can!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm joe:

@Wild Neil oh yeah $$$$$. I had some gift money that I was given that is the only reason I finally broke down and they were one of the few on the list I had never seen and took the plunge.
  1:20pm Jeff formerly from Rahway:

Hi Joe! When will this Wreckless Eric record be released?
  1:20pm listener monica:

!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm joe:

@Wild Neil what I will say is if at sometime you are on the fence about if you should spend the money or not I can say I don't think they will disappoint you. Woud have loved to see LOCG so that is very cool that you got that chance.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm joe:

@wild neil Jakko Jakszyk is amazing on vocals and 2nd guitar. His vocals on Easy Money near melted my face and on Moon Child damn near brought me to tears

Help me out here. Joni Mitchell did write "Both Sides Now," correct? But Judy Collins's version came first.

Yes, Collins sang it 1st and "the hit". It was on Mitchell's album Clouds the next year.

Frank Sinatra sang a version. So did Leonard Nimoy.
