Good morning, Jeff, Scraps, and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06am
Jeff Golick:

How do, @listener james!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09am
listener james from westwood:

You can't spell Braxton without "tax," which is what I'm putting together right now. Fortunately he and his bandmates are sanding down the edges of the task.
  9:09am
Listener Robert:

Actually every date in March is a sentence. Should marching be the 30th thing I do? "No. March 31st!"

You could even make some of them 3-word sentences. How many men should I send there; all 50 at once? "March 20 first."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09am
Jeff Golick:

Ah, you have my sympathies, @ljfw. May it all turn out in your favor.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12am

@Listener Robert! I march corrected. Welcome!

Hello Jeff.
On your marks, get set........
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39am

Zero idea if I'll get anything back, but it's for damn sure my WFMU donations from last year will raise a middle finger to ill-spent revenues this year!

Oh, yeah, @Brian in UK. It's just about that time. Nice to see you.

Polyus:

Jeff! The Sonic Universe Project performance last night in Mpls was really really good. One continuous improvised piece that felt short but actually ran about 1hr 20 mins or so. Everyone did a really nice job of allowing everyone else space to work in, and then of course there were times when everyone cut loose at once. The stage looked great too - a huge mess of instruments and a number of tapestries and masks hanging at the back of the stage. Douglas Ewart even recited a couple lengthy poems at various points.

As far as a recording, we can only hope. There was a similar performance at the Walker in 2008, featuring Yusef Lateef (which I missed,) that was released on CD. So who knows?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31am
Jeff Golick:

It's a fair question, @glenn.

Wow, the station bar graph to goal went up another 1% with no pitching! Must be the economy, as I said last year, when it got near 20% in 2 days. Me, I'm waiting to get another couple PineCone Research studies to earn my pledgeable $.

Morning from the West Coast. My 2 favorite FMU shows begin (this) and end(Avant Ghetto) Sunday's, and both are manned by Jeff's(not that would be a good Drive coupling!). I give gladly to both for the listening pleasure and education.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00am
listener james from westwood:

@Jeff: Hoping that also means folks are sending checks in pre-Marathon! I'm glad DJs have been mentioning that Swag for Lifers got an email recently re: their ongoing pledge, along w' a link through which to re-allot the shows they want to support, b/c I just completely spaced on the email.
The real test will be how much flex Clay can exert. If everyone who he name-checks at roll call were to do a Mouse pledge, we'd be in great shape.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:01am
doctorjazz:

Hmmm, have that on vinyl,, have to check it out later and see if it is that way on the lp
But it would make sense, if he was on that side for the set. But I'd think the engineer would correct it in the mix later..
  11:09am
Listener Robert:

I doubt Swag For Life pledges would've sent the widget up by $15,000 during this time. However, it could be as James wrote, that a pile of envelopes had accumulated, and that this morning the first shift of volunteers has been opening them and passing the checks to the one with the adding machine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11am
Jeff Golick:

Y'all are on your marathon game.
  11:17am
Dean:

Can I be any more goddamn stupid? Last week UM announced we'd next here from him from "Marathon," and I'm thinking, "Wow, he's traveling to Greece." Today he reports he's in my time zone. "Is there a Marathon in the US?," I speculate.

Dean:

Palm Springs, Greece?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am
Uncle Michael:

So, a couple weeks back, Michael Shelley played a Luis Bonfa track, and I've been on a Bonfa binge ever since. I have my own little Bossa Nova sets planned for after the marathon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am
Uncle Michael:

Not far from there, galactically-speaking, Dean.
  11:33am
Dean:

Heh, speaking of Sinatra and Palm Springs, I'm planning a baked cellentani with Frank's recipe for meatballs this evening.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34am

I'd like to see that recipe...and any evidence Frank ever got up to his wrists in ground pork.
