Avatar 10:23pm

agreed, Kris. love him with the fuzz as well, obviously
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm
Little Danny:

@Kris: Yeah! The schlockier the soundtrack the better!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm
Little Danny:

I have seen only like one or two true AIP-era biker films. Rough stuff. Soundtracks are better in my opinion
Avatar 10:27pm
Kris Holmes:

The Young Jessie jazz stuff is under appreciated

I have a 5 year-old car, and I can plug my phone in an 8" aux port to listen to WFMU (when I'm not listening to the cdrs I haven't been able to listen to in almost 13 years [car came w/ an amazing cd player that plays scratchy cdrs that can be 20 years old, and they'll still play!).
Avatar 10:40pm
northguineahills:

(I've only had the car for 6 mos.)
  10:41pm
MrFab:

No, you'r right, it is indeed entitled "Blues Theme," from the "Wild Angels" soundtrack. One of the few tunes i can really play on the gee-tar.
Avatar 10:42pm
Flash Strap:

gotta run, friends and loved ones

Danny, the tunes were so splendid, see you next week friend
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm
Little Danny:

Thanks for the confirm MrFab! Next week we remote broadcast you doing the same

i always thought that song was a bit of a rip off of "rosanna's going wild" -even though the mood's different
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15pm
coelacanth∅:

(for all i know it came along first...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm
Little Danny:

Oh wow. Never heard of "Rosanna's Going Wild" - tell me more Coel!
Avatar 11:19pm
northguineahills:

I've seen Tom Rechion dj a mean set before, but never live, unfortunately.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19pm
coelacanth∅:

Johnny Cash, written about his daughter -sometime in the '60s. more upbeat but similar song structure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm
Little Danny:

Okay, thanks, Coel! I am desperately googling that on my phone as I write
Avatar 11:22pm
northguineahills:

coel just broke my brain (probably already broken).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm
coelacanth∅:

(...although -i haven't heard it in a while - maybe i'm completely daft! ...but the Bob Lind song did remind me of it)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm
Little Danny:

That's so cool NGH! Was he playing straightforward back-to-back tracks or doing on-the-spot remixing and manipulating?
Avatar 11:27pm
northguineahills:

His style was all over the place, dub, 70s-80s pop, bach organ werks, krautrock, some eno and drone, I really didn't know who he was at the time, found his works at Other Music shortly after. He was friends of a friend of mine, and delightful at the time (my shallow description, sorry). This was 12 years ago.
Avatar 11:28pm
northguineahills:

Now, Basinski, I've seen many times. The first time, he came off as a cunt, but he must have had a bad day, b/c the other two times he was a joyful lad.

zonk ludlow:

For a moment there I though we'd gone to the world of The Residents. Will be checking out Classroom Projects in Creative Music. Another broken brain here in Oz.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm
coelacanth∅:

i'm on my other, safer for web surfing laptop researching tethering. if i can do that and end up paying less than i do for both phone and internet is the only way i'd consider getting a pocket computer("smartphone"). i don't want one; the only use i can see for it beyond a regular cell phone + a laptop & internet service at home is to listen to all of wfmu while driving, and i already can listen to the main wfmu most of the time via frequency modulation...so i wouldn't get it just for that)
Avatar 11:31pm
northguineahills:

well, my friend is playing down the street in 15 minutes, and I have to wake in 7.5 hours (and i'm two score years old), so off I go. Thanks LD and all of our GTDS friends listening. Abrazos!

i was lucky that when i first got a computer in 2008 mentioning it to a guy who said put "Tom Recchion" into pandora. who knows how long might've gone by without me knowing him.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39pm
Little Danny:

@NGH re: Basinski - he played in Marfa a few years ago and didn't make a good impression
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44pm

@zonk: I love that! I'd also recommend the "Classroom Projects" best-of compilation released by Trunk Records: www.trunkrecords.com...

Cheers LD, thank you for the tip. Be onto it in approx 10 mins. As per usual loved the show, especially those Flying Nun type sounds towards the end. Time now for us all to get into training for next weeks marathon. Until then hope everyone eats themselves fitter.
