Anyway, power dynamics in the workplace are screwed up. Heck a ton more for women than men, but the creepiest part of the corporate world to me is how after some set amount of time—like 3 months, 6 months, 1 years—suddenly co-workers treat you differently. Unwritten rules.

This is interesting. I have found that asking questions, sometimes even only in my head, really is a good way to shift focus away from myself when I'm feeling uncomfortable, it sort of turns down the volume of overwhelming emotion.

The sort of qualification that employers consider relevant now (or at least their HR depts. do) has become ridiculously narrow and defiant of common sense. Like my friend who was passed up for a bookkeeping job at a spice importer in favor of someone else who'd been a bookkeeper for a spice importer.
