I guess if I have to live another I could at least ask for a song request. How about some Dolly Parton?

I'm going to catch up on the archive, as I'm hanging with the phish stream now - the light show of these phish shows is really insane.
Avatar 12:11am

did you just check in to say you're choosing phish over this show??

Happy new year everyone! Pantz - you'll request Dolly Parton and probably get Grateful Dead, so be prepared ;-) And hello to Jeff's dad...welcome!

in a lot of ways Starship was better than Airplane

** happy New Years ** Jeff , Nick too everyone ,,, ( does not agree with Luisa wholeheartedly but I like the StarShip too .. )

This Starship is amazing, can't go with the better than Airplane...

A lot of ways? Gonna need more support on that claim.

.. not by the late 70's when FM starting to turn to crapola starShip anyway before that ,,,

Wasn't Starship in the Star Wars Holiday Special?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26am

think by like 75 I developed a taste for Tuna ( not the seafood kind [ not trying to be funny either ] )
  12:27am

Woah, Starship in a Star Wars Holiday Special? Bizarre. I can imagine that, though... In the past couple of years, I've probably listened to Blows Against the Empire more than most recent music.
  12:28am
pantz:

Starship in the Star Wars Christmas special was the height of their career, except for We Built This City. That goes w/o saying.

Je T'ai Crue translates in Google as "I Tasted You"
  12:35am
Agent Peter:

Blows Against the Empire was a Paul Kantor thang. The record company added Jefferson Starship to the name but it was a different than the eventual Jefferson Starship, who were pants.

HNY, Jeff & All. Just think, now that Disney owns the rights it's only a matter of time till that "Special" turns up on Broadway.
  12:36am

@saucerful - yeah, it's one of those things that seems too weird to be true and most people seem to suppress it of they knew.

It is 9:36 here but we celebrated on New Jersey time, so HNY everyone.

Happy New Year, guys! Is it too late to request "Row Jimmy" by Grateful Dead?
  12:41am
saucerful:

@Agent Peter - yeah, Blows Against the Empire seems to have more in common musically with the Paul Kantner/Grace Slick release Sunfighter than with the later Jefferson Starship music.
  12:42am
fredr:

Great stuff this morning Jeff! Happy New Year!
  12:42am

it was better at that moment... :)

Not the Monterrey PoP version?

(Everyone's a critic!)
  12:44am
Mark R:

I've never heard this version of "Section 43" before--only the one on "Electric Music for the Mind and Body." It's very similar but I could tell it wasn't the exact same version. This is one of my favorite extended psychedelic jams of that era.

It's amazing Phil Pearlman was the man behind Beat of the Earth, Electronic Hole, and Relatively Clean Rivers...definitely an eccentric genius. Sad about his son Adam Gadahn.
