Ridgewood Radio features concert recordings by adventurous bands and experimental musicians and restored archival tapes from private and institutional collections captured at venues large and small across the five boroughs of New York. It is produced by David Weinstein and Outpost Artists Resources operating out of the Ridgewood section of Queens, NY, where you'll find more yellow bricks than on the road to Oz and the cemetery of your choice is never more than a few blocks from home.

Afternoon, frigid Ridgewood! Windy and chill on this side of the Hudson, too!
Avatar 3:04pm

I convinced and helped Talibam! plan a Florida leg on their next US tour. Can't wait!

Oh James, I hate to whine about the cold, I'm from Chicago I should know better.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:06pm

Talibam! has a new album out and lots of side projects. I think they may outlast Trump.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm

Ding! Greetings & happy to be listening.

Thanks, steveo. Settle in for a (mostly) gentle ride.

I've Been Dinged!
(hi all)

The cdrs alone I got from Matt take up a good proportion of my cd shelf, then you add official releases, vinyl, side projects, etc, and you have enough music to listen to for weeks. Always a blast live.

At one gig, for whatever reason, I got on stage and started playing the piano. Most groups would have kicked me out, while they just went w/ it.

Well that's better than being t-boned. Hi Doc!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:13pm

Yes, ngh... the TaliBoys are unpredictable and inclusive by nature of rebelliousness.

greetings all

Greetings, coela. How's your environment today?
Avatar 3:24pm
northguineahills:

I'm not encouraging anyone to do so at the next Talibam! gig, but it you must, it's an option....
Avatar 3:34pm
northguineahills:

I missed Mary's "ding-ding-ding", so this is an acceptable substiture.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm

David, regarding environment...my aural environment is quite good! otherwise, i'm swimming in fake spruce leaves and an enormous tangle of tiny lights and wire. (but getting paid by the hour, so it could be much worse)
...how're you?
Avatar 3:49pm
northguineahills:

I'm looking to go back to visit Brooklyn in late winter/early spring to correspond w/ my friends' live shows, so if you you're curating/etc around then let me know,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm

it's like you were reading my mind about wishing I could have been there...checking in with my spousal unit re: friday

Hi Ridgewood Radiators - the volumes been down - d'oh - but I've been listening.
Avatar 3:56pm
northguineahills:

Ok, back to work, hear y'alls thens.

@david: I'm looking at late March/early April. (solar orbit anniversary).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm
coelacanth∅:

nah, i wouldn't mind that job though. i'm de-lighting a very big, expensive fake xmas tree for someone who wants to donate it to her meeting house. i told her it would take less than 10% of the time to waste the string lights (at least 1000 of them, each one clipped on and a very complicated electrical set-up...) but fortunately she knows how i hate wasting at the cost to the planet and she feels similarly and said remove them all. untangle them and if any strings don't work, take all good light bulbs out and save them.

You're at 74 Wythe Ave?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm

ngh @3.11 had you been drinking?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:01pm

Outpost is 1665 Norman Street. I think you are looking at Output, the dance club.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm
coelacanth∅:

(i could see me doing that if i'd been drinking and were close with the band)
Avatar 4:02pm

oh yeah, Outpost is where Bryan(Spinoza) does his Bunker nights I get them confuesed.

@coel: I may have been imbibing and partaking in the devil's lettuce that night (it was a good show).

it's mesmerizing too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm

i've done minor electrical work, but i don't understand why one string light wire would suddenly branch into 2, which would then branch into 2 again...(& then disappear into the pile of wire where i don't know what happens to it)
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:17pm
weinstein:

I know, I've listened to it twice now and it is seductive. They create quite a journey,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm

The light strings have become self-aware and seek to spread and colonize and make removal difficult.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm

i'm imagining that each time you untangle a strand, it makes a happy ding....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm

sbp so i probably should keep a safe distance to the mass
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm
coelacanth∅:

steveo, i wouldn't know!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:32pm

I think the future versions of this should be the untangling show. Ruth says she wishes she was drinking and untangling to this.
Avatar 4:38pm
still b/p:

Many a good waste-averse man and tippling lass ha' gone missing in the work among hungry tendrils. And those newer projection dinguses for house exteriors...they'll transport ye to another dimension. Don't look 'em in the dazzlin' eye-lens!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm
coelacanth∅:

well, i haven't started drinking yet. maybe after the first DING! (hypothesis being that each wire will come undone easier than the last) -full liquor cabinet here and the owner of the house has maybe quit drinking, if anyone wants to help!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm
coelacanth∅:

thanks,sbp i'm trying not to, but....the twinkle!
i have the dogs here, but they're not really paying attention. it might be too late by the time they jump in.
